Bomber from Bev4Less. Pours a rich motor oily hue, initially ample brown sugar foam, much fizziness. As the foam fades, the initally metallic homebrew smell also departs replaced by resplendent aromas of bittersweet anise, soy sauce, and coffee. Taste is like an earthy, leathery, espresso been dipped in dark chocolate. Good stuff. 10.2% is amazingly subtle and disguised until very late in the palate. Smooth drinker. Maybe a little indistinct in terms of mid-to-late-palate complexity, but still, an enjoyable and impressive beer. BrewDad (5667) - Olympia, Washington, USA - MAY 19, 2012
Dark black in color, clear with a thin tan head. Nice Dark malt chocolate and coffee flavors and aromas. Very tasty Impy Stout. pantanap (3367) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 12, 2012
Growler courtesy of alex for the share... Pours a deeper cola reddish hue, subtely transparent, and topped with a thin light beige head that recedes to a thin ring... Lightly peppery with cinammon and vanilla. Chocolate and cocoa, semi-sweet overall... Flavors are more of the same, semi-sweet cocoa with cinammon. Light roast on the backend. Body is a bit on the thin side. Nice surprise and easily drinkable for being a 10.2abv brew. JohnnyJ (5573) - San Diego, California, USA - MAR 10, 2012
Draft at the brewery. Thick black pour, small tan head. Dark chocolate, honey like sweetness, definite cinnamon notes, roasted malt, and a bit spicy in the finish. Warming, but not terribly boozy. I thought it was pretty good, liked the cinnamon.
