This is one of the best looking beer is a glass I have had it has a great dark amber to brown color with a red hue. The head on it is perfict ,large, fluffy and lingers is the glass for days. Aroma is hoppy and sweet but a little flat. Great flavor sweet, hoppy, caremal and citrus.

Bottle, shared with Parksy. Dark orange amber, off white head. Aroma is strong caramel malt, undertones of nectarine. Sweet fruity caramel malt, very malty, moderately sweet with a long bitter finish.

Beautiful beer... dark red appearance with wonderful head. Smell is balanced and awesome.. hops, malt, some spices.. Taste is complex... malt, gingerbread? Good beer.

22oz bomber pours with a slightly hazy amber brown colored body that supports a thin tan head. The aroma offers up a blend of crystal malts, a dash of chocolate malts and lightly roasted malts as well as some pine hops and a bit of earthy spicy hops. The taste starts with lightly roasted malts, crystal malts and soft chocolate malts heading into bitter to near resiny pine hoppiness. To midway modest levels of earthy spicy hops meet some earthy almost coffee like roastiness. This red ipa works pretty well.

Pours reddish w/ a huge foamy off white head. The aroma is a pleasant blend of malt & hops. The taste is pretty malty upfront & finishes w/ a decent hop kick. Not bad but nothing out of this world either!

Amber with a white head - Fruity hop aroma - Good malt body to support a frutiy hop profile - Fruity hops that ends dry - This was nice

Bottle from Holiday Wine Cellar: Poured a hazy burnt amber hue that appeared more brown than red while a thick foamy development of head rested on top. Aroma is mild with a whiff of earthy hops but the nose is dominated by a chewy base of caramelized malts. The beer taste as though it is a little past its prime but it still delivers an exceptional malt profile that is still held up by a dry and bitter hop addition. Wish I had bought one of these bombers when it was fresh. This recipe still comes across as tasting good even though it does have significant age so extra points on the overall score. Aztec Brewing has been consistent through every beer I have come across from them so far which counts for something in the SD brew market.

Something happened to this bottle I guess...better try it on tap. Nothing but foam..couldn’t smell anything, couldn’t tadte anything...just yeasty foam. Sorry guys will retry.

Foam foam more foam. No real aroma but some green apple, sour notes, no hops overly carbonated...forgot to check bottle on date code, may be super old which is not necessarily their fault. I’ll try again to re rate

Location: 22 oz bottle from State Line, 12/24/14

Aroma: The nose is toffee and caramel, with spice, nutty notes, grapefruit, pine, and resin
Appearance: A dark reddish-brown color with a giant, foamy beige head (boarding on a gusher)
Flavor: It has a solid malty sweetness, nutty, a little spice, and a strong hop bitterness
Palate: The mouthfeel gets a touch sticky, with a medium-plus body, and a fairly dry finish
Overall Impression: The components of a nice beer all seem to be here, but it just doesn’t quite come together. It’s one of those beers where, on a cooking competition show, the judge would tell the chef that there’s a good idea in there somewhere, but the execution wasn’t quite up to snuff. There’s a good beer in here somewhere, but on the output I only found an okay beer.

Another odd one from this brewery in a 22 bomber. Really nice clear garnet...soem what foamy. Old malt and old hop aroma and the flavor was the same. Pretty much a drain pour.
