This barrel aged dry cyser (’size-er’: a honey wine made with apples) was made with fresh-pressed Michigan apple cider and aromatic Michigan wildflower honey. Fermented to dryness and aged in charred American oak barrels. Huge apple aroma is complimented by the flavor of honey and oak with a warm smooth finish.

Pour out of 375 mL bottle, thanks Aaron! Clear yellow pour, no head, aroma brought notes of brown sugar, hints of apple, virgin oak with slight vanilla in there. Taste is a nice mix of oak, lemon, some hints of vanilla, touch of bronw sugar, slight apple, lemon, finishing very dry.

Bottle shared with Bob - thanks! Clear light yellow pour. Great honey apple nose. Dry apple, some honey floral stuff going on. Warm finish.

Bottle. 2012 bottling I think. Clear pale yellow pour with no head. Big oak and vanilla aroma with some earthy honey. Tastes like apple skins, white grape, and dry wood mostly. Very little honey sweetness. Extremely dry and boozy finish with a moderate burn. I had the fresh a couple years ago and remember it being better. This is just ok.

From the bottle. Clean dark gold pour. Big barrel notes, woody, fresh apples in the aroma. Warm apple cider notes, little sweetness and a dry woodiness. Clean, but unappealing finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at the World Beer Festival - Columbia on 01/22/2011. Clear pale golden body with no head. Sweet honey and vanilla aroma. Vanilla and acidic fruit flavor with a honey finish. Medium full body with no carbonation.

HighWine (991) - Whalezbro, Illinois, USA - AUG 8, 2013
Early 2012 bottling to white wine stem glass. Glowing light honey colored pour. Tiny bubbles adhere to the glass under the syrupy elixir without forming any specific pattern. Aroma is yellow apple, damp oak, and peach. Smells like a Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay wine blend. Taste is sweeter than the wine it resembles but with similar oak dryness. Honey, apple skin, lemon, and white grape. Finish is oaky and slightly alcoholic. I wasn’t crazy about this at first but its opening up nicely.

Bottle split with DiarmaidBHK - bottle batch number 501009 (Oct 2009) - aroma is smoked oak with some light apple notes. Taste has some sourness, which might be from the age of the mead. Finish is certainly dry. Overall, not my favorite B. Nektar, I lean more towards there sweeter styles.

Bottle from Total Wine Naples. Pours golden with a slight oakiness on the nose. Very dry on the tongue comes more from the apple than the honey. I’m not sure he barrel aging does much for it.

Drake (14332) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - APR 10, 2013
375 mL bottle. Pours a clear pale yellow color. Aroma of apple, pear, honey, wood, berries. The taste is peppery wood, honey, vanilla, apples. Medium bodied, faint booze. Decent.
