UPDATED: NOV 15, 2015 Pours up a purple color with nearly no head. The aroma is cloves with blackberries. The taste, like the aroma, is cloves and blackberries. Full and smooth with soft carbonation. The finish is long and semi-sweet with berries. Very interesting brew. Would be great with pancakes for breakfast. hotstuff (5142) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - JAN 3, 2015
Rated on 12-28-2014 at 800 Degrees Three Fires (Fort Wayne, IN) This draft mead has a very small tan head that mostly diminished, transparent reddish body and no visible carbonation. The aroma is blackberry, clove, some honey, and sweet. The flavor is blackberry upfront, clove, light honey, and very sweet tasting. The mouthfeel is smooth and lightly thin. This mead is medium bodied. This is a very quaffable mead that is very tasty and worth trying. Nocturne (1992) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - DEC 31, 2014
500ml bottle. Deep shade of purple with a ring of white head. That clove, honey and blackberry combo makes for a fantastic aroma, even if it is a little heavy on the clove. More of a fruit-forward taste. Bit like drinking a Christmas candle. Nice to have a lower ABV mead with all this flavour.

pours a pretty ruby red, slight carbonation. good clarity, no legs to speak of, and wouldn’t expect much at this low abv anyway.
aroma is quite vinous, plenty of dark berries and hint of spice. seems a black-currant-like tobacco quality here. honey is pretty much absent, as is the orange peel, and surprisingly the cloves.
...but there are the cloves in the flavor. at first they are in the background, and the blackberries and slight honey shine, with rind behind as well. however with each sip the clove sits on the palate, and builds. it becomes a bit bitter, quite spicy, and a few ounces in this is a decidedly clove-dominated drink.
as it warms the clove even comes out in the aroma, to the forefront even. interesting that it was pretty much nondescript in the cold beverage.
I can see how there is some balance brought by the clove, but it is difficult to work with without becoming dominant, and this one, though tasty, and perhaps easier for me to drink than zombie killer, still remains a bit difficult to consume much of and not the session drink I’d prefer with these low abv meads. Really interesting take though; glad to try it.

Poured into stem glass a winey purple. No head no lace but bubbles very lively just after the pour. Aroma is blackberry heavy with orange and clove coming out giving it a fall spice note. Taste is sweet on the draw, blackberry, spice and honey. Tarts towards and on the finish. Very smooth in the mouth. One of my favorite meads. queenholly (3623) - South Whitley, Indiana, USA - DEC 10, 2014
Draft. Sweet earthy blackberry. spicy clove, and orange aroma. Clear deep plum with a small pink head. Sweet earthy blackberry and light clove flavor with a hint of orange. Medium, uncarbonated body. Sammy (12099) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 7, 2014
Cherry blackberry look. Spice mostly good smell. Blackberry leads almost cherry. Smooth mouthfeel. Some off flavour. Tart finish.
