Had the chance to visit B. Nektar. What fun! Evil Genius pours a very light straw yellow. Pretty clear and very pale. Wasn’t sure what to expect given the color. Aroma is ripe oranges, orange zest, lemon, sweet citrus, the hops and honey come together to make a sweet citrus aroma, quite good. The taste is what I was personally hoping for. What you would expect to be honest, in the best way. It’s hard to rate a product that hasn’t been done very much. If it was a normal IPA, I might say it is too sweet, but it’s a mead, and as such, really interesting. The sweetness comes up front, with huge citrus again, orange and lemon, really light and refreshing in the mouth, thinner feeling than a normal mead, not big and thick. On the end the bitterness comes through to remind you of the hops and balance the sweetness. It is what it advertises, honey and hops, but I think they did it really well. Not terribly complex, just really fun to drink and they make honey and hops work well. Can’t wait to try it again!
Pale straw color with a just a few tiny bubbles adrift. A light white wine aroma, with hints of green apple. Sweet start, with plenty of honey and a light green hop presence. A mead, wine and hop mix that isn’t working for me. 4/13

Appearance and aroma of white wine. Delicate Aroma of pear, grape, citrus, and honey, flavor is very sweet and overwrought, heavy on honey, with notes of rice, pear, mandarin orange. Finish is fleeting. tchaos (428) - New York, USA - MAR 21, 2015
500ml bottle. Pours clear Amber with a hint of carbonation. Aroma is Honey and floral. Tastes of botanicals, honey, and spice. I understand why this is a miss for many people, but I enjoy it. orangesol (987) - Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 12, 2015
Not a fan of this one at all. The hops are there but not enough to stop the mead onslaught. I have had much better hopped meads and for the same price as their other offings I doubt I would purchase another.

From a bottle. Pours clear pale gold with tiny particles floating around and a thin, fizzy white head. Tastes like light dry honey, white grapes, and dry grassy hops. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like white grapes, grass, and white wine. sonnycheeba (6259) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - DEC 27, 2014

500mL bottle. Pours a clear pale yellow color with a very brief white head. Aroma is sweet: grapes mostly, some floral/grassy notes as well. Light bodied, taste is sweet but not too sweet. Not picking up any hops at all. Finish continues with the sweet theme. Ok, not bad. Dogbrick (13547) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - SEP 5, 2014
Sample at the DBLDP on 08/31/2014. Pale yellow-gold color with a minimal white head and sparse legs on the glass. Floral and fruity aroma. Medium body with flavors of floral honey, fruit and slight hops. The finish is sweet fruit and grassy hops. Decent overall.
