COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We used fresh peeled ginger and raw Michigan wildflower honey to ferment this mead, and then aged it in rye whiskey barrels.

This is the mad creation of Ian Radogost-Givens, meadmaker extroirdinaire and partner at B. Netkar. Keep an eye out for his creations. He will soon be leading up our experiMental B-Sides series, and our barrel series.

Bottle shared by JStax - thanks, Jeremy! 2013 vintage. I didn’t notice the 17% ABV part on the label. Hoo boy. Pours a clear white wine color but slightly more yellow. This is definitely warming, with whiskey, ginger, honey, vanilla, wood, and grapes. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a sweet, spicy, warming mouthfeel. I should’ve known it was so high boost but didn’t think to look or ask. Good mead.

Bottle sample at Muckfest VII on 6/17/17. Thanks Jeremy! Pours clear gold with no head and sticky legs. Aroma of honey, whiskey and ginger. Honey and whiskey flavor with a ginger finish. There’s a lot that could have gone wrong with these flavors, but they came together so nicely.

Bottle from flandersned and shared at muckfest. The mead is a clear yellow. Still. Ginger, honeydew, and wood in the aroma. Sweet honey and ginger with white tea aspects. Sweet and boozy taste. Slick mouthfeel.

Bottle thanks to Alan. Pours golden with no head. The aroma is floral, ginger, oak, honey, booze. Lots of heat from booze, ginger, light dry finish, oak, very good.

Bottle: Clear yellow-golden color with a few fizzy bubbles that disappear instantly after pouring. Aroma loaded with heavy whiskey, wood, vanilla, honey sweetness, & spicy ginger. Alcohol is very potent, a bit fusel towards the back-end. Flavor is straight beast mode. Hits the tongue & goes HAM on your palate. Heavy honey, spicy rye whiskey warmth, some dry oak staves, sharp notes of clove & ginger, & maybe a very small touch of vanilla. Super warming finish, robust & boozy as hell with a great deal of honey sweetness to try & balance... Though it still it slightly off-kilter. Warmth only brings out the alcohol even more. Such a huge goddamn mead. Certainly not bad, but the heavy alcohol can be slightly obnoxious on the back of each sip, & even more so in the aroma.

500ml bottle from b nektar. Pours light clear gold with a wisp of carbonation. Aroma of ginger, honey, and booze. This is a big mead...lots of ginger, honey, and Rye. Far too drinkable for the abv.

Bottle @ Three Notch’d Tasting. Obtained via trade. Thanks JohnnyNepal! Light gold pour. Still, no head. The nose is really interesting. Distinct mountain meadow, grass and herbs. Slight accent of brown sugar, honey and caramel. Definite whiskey character imparted in the flavor. Honey, spicy ginger and mandarin orange. Full body, oily. Very interesting. Nailed it.

mcberko (18977) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 14, 2014
Bottle, pours a clear pale yellow with no head. Aroma brings out strong notes of ginger, honey, and alcohol. Flavour is intensely hot, with loads of alcohol, intense ginger, and more booze from the whiskey. Not easy drinking by any means, but quite well-constructed for what it is. Difficult brew to drink more than an ounce of. Decent.

Bottle - Boozy and honey. Clear light yellow. An absolute mess of booze and honey and light herbal notes. Like a honey liquor with some phenols. Not a fan.
