A hazed burgundy melomel with a thin white head. in aroma, a light kriek lambic with lactic cherries, sweet and smooth. In mouth, a nice kriek like mead with smooth light acidity, beautiful alcohol warmth, nice and sweet and delicious. Bottle. Pours a deep ruby red with no head whatsoever. Aroma has a really nice cherry note with a nice sweet honey note and just a hint of hoppiness. Flavor has a nice slightly tart cherry note that combined really nicely with the dry honey notes. daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - JAN 22, 2012
Nice red pour. Aroma of cherries, blackberries, something a bit yeasty and dank, some cool hops. Flavor is sweeet/tart/some hop essence. This is damn good! cubs (10635) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - NOV 16, 2011
Bottle in Detroit. Dark red violet appearance with a small, carbonated white head. Rich, sweet honey, dark black cherry, slightly floral aroma. Quite rich, sweet, tangy honey, somewhat spicy, thick, black cherry flavor with a syrupy mouth feel. Slight cough syrup flavor but tasty nonetheless. phaleslu (10267) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAY 7, 2012
500 ml bottle from a friend in Wisconsin. Pours a deep, cloudy ruby red color with a small pink-tinted head. Aroma of cherries, pomegranate juice, herbs, earthy hops, honey, cough syrup, and tannins. Flavor has even more cherry pop to it, with honey, floral notes, and red wine. Medium-bodied, with a vinous mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Sweet and juicy. Definite booze present; drinks like wine. Excellent melomel.

On tap at Jackie-Os, $10 for a tulip... At that price, I was on the fence about this one for a while... But it’s definitely a unique and interesting drink, that much was clear on the first sip. Clear ruby red color, sort of pink head that fades to pretty much nothing. It certainly looks interesting. First thing I noticed about the body was the slight warmth, like a wine, and almost no carbonation, also like a wine... But it has a much harsher bite, and when combined with the oily texture and spiciness, it’s a kick in the throat. This.. Is definitely funky. It has a great sour component to the taste, along with a rose wine -like sweetness, and a spicy bite. Hearty cherry element that works well with the honey. Not really sure what the hops add to the flavor, but I am getting a hint of the belgian yeast (Like I said, it’s funky). This would be an interesting alternative to a table-top wine, but the bite makes it hard to approach drowland (8757) - Georgia, USA - NOV 25, 2011
11/25/11. Bottle courtesy Tim! Clear bright red pour with a small khaki head that fades into a ring. Slightly sour cherry aroma with a bit of wood, alcohol, and deep honey. Sweet honey flavor with plenty of tart cherry and a bit of alcohol. All in all, it reminds me a bit of Luden’s cough drops, but for some reason I still dig it. Noticeably carbonated, which surprised me. Not sure if that was intentional, but it doesn’t detract from it. Nice! Ibrew2or3 (8614) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - JUL 5, 2012
Pours clear bright prune juice with a modest degree of legginess along the edges of the glass. The aroma is big sweet cherry notes mixing with honey chemical booze. The taste has some rich nectar like cherry juice sweetened by honey and then getting tart by deep carpet staining currant juice. The fruity tartness ramps up into the finish. Nice rich flavor with tart freshness. jredmond (8285) - New York, New York, USA - AUG 16, 2012
Bottle shared with vin. Pours a deep wine red body with no head. Aroma is cherry, light heat, light wine, and sweet honey. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of cherry, wine, honey, juice, cinnamon and light warming. JaBier (7973) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - DEC 14, 2011
Sample at Buckeye Beer Engine on 12/10/11. Blood red pour with a thin pink head. Aroma of pickles, cherry, butter and grassy hops. Honey and tart cherry flavor with a weird medicinal finish.
