Now this hits the spot! Richly roasted, but also slightly cakey aroma. Feels good in the mouth - smooth mouthfeel, and on swallowing leaves the mouth neither too sweet, not too dry. Carbonation low. A really rich roast in the taste, less cake there. Very sessionable, a very easy drinker. Dry, but not drying. Not entirely sure if/how this benefitted from the barrel ageing, as the normal one is absolutely lush fresh. But don’t get me wrong - I’d not turn down the chance to have this again!
