Tap from the barrel. Aroma is somewhere between smokehouse and outhouse with the malts roasted either crispy bacon or cheese and onion. Pours black coffee with broken flecks of lace. Tastes sour licorice and bitter coffee. As some one who likes most stout and porter I have to say this one is a taste Iíve yet to acquire. But the third taste was better than the first.

Cask @ March Hare, Dunton. Colour of pure black. Smells like malt roasted into oblivion. Taste is bittersweet with a dry finish. Simple but absolutely gorgeous. Worth living in Bedfordshire for this beer.

Cask @ The Quakerhouse. The pourís deep brown with a creamy tan head. The nose is strong licorice, some roasted coffee, notes of chocolate and ash. The taste is light vanilla cream, licorice, fennel, chocolate, roasted malts. Slightly watery body, easy-drinking stuff. Overall, a decent beer.
