Cask @ The Quakerhouse. The pour’s deep brown with a creamy tan head. The nose is strong licorice, some roasted coffee, notes of chocolate and ash. The taste is light vanilla cream, licorice, fennel, chocolate, roasted malts. Slightly watery body, easy-drinking stuff. Overall, a decent beer. sic1314 (4775) - Leiden, NETHERLANDS - OCT 22, 2012
Poured a nice dark black with a thick white head. Aroma of roast malt with coffee and a little chocolate. Flavour is similar with the roast dominating over the aftertaste. DruncanVeasey (8225) - NUNEATON, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - OCT 17, 2012

, Wolverhampton (JDW). Black with large beige head. Taste of Coffee and hints of chocolate. Aroma of roasted malts. Medium bodied, may be improved if it was more creamy. Better than Guinness.
Rich sweet smelling stout that gives the impression it is stronger than it is.

Cask at Alexander Graham Bell (JDW). A good looking stout with a toffee and chocolate aroma. Flavour has toffee, roast, and chocolate leading to a long dry finsh. Medium body. tombyars (1683) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - OCT 1, 2012
Tasted this in the Salt Cot, Saltcoats (JDW) in October 2012. Cask, handpump dispense. Dull black in colour with a thick creamy off white head. Strong roast malt and burnt toast present in the short aroma. Creamy mouthfeel and good lacing throughout. Dark malts give a rich base of black treacle sponge, black coffee, bitter plain chocolate and a hint of root liquorice. Dusty hop resins present in the short bitter aftertaste with barley grain present. Long malty finish with dry almond notes evident in the mouth. This is a superb session stout and reminded me of Broughton’s Oatmeal Stout from long ago. Highly recommended. mr_h (5434) - Ayr, SCOTLAND - SEP 7, 2012
