The beer, 'Boss Gansendonck' was created for the Marnixring De Loteling from the Antwerp region Norther Kempen. It is an authentique Flamish beer of high fermentation with a rich floral hoppy aroma.

330 ml. bottle sampled @ home. Purchased @ ALBO. BBF 02/09/17. Another small, supposedly local brew made by De Proef, there is really absolutely no end to these. At least these are never gush. Label on this one is hideous & it promises a hoppy affair. Hazy bright golden, creamy touch off-white head. Nose is mellow, sugar, candy, yeast, flowers, Basic, rather sweet & non-deScript, nothing hoppy here. Taste is rather odd, thin dusty herbal, yeast, bitter esters, alcoholic mellow, sweet, thin, banana, citrus, light cabbage followed by a weird bitterness that is akin to green paprika, wild herbs, herbal tea, oily, I suppose the green paprika, pepper, oily bitterness is not really hops, something odd & something that doesnt appeal to me. Takes it down, odd brew if not for that it would have been an okay sweet, banana Belgian. Usually I would think of issues in this case but with De Proef, with might be dealing with a really terrible choice of hops. It is a bit thin, fizzy, the unfortunate aftertaste lingers quite a bit.

Commissioned beer for De Loteling in the northern Kempen region of the province of Antwerp. Bottle from Wijnegemse Drankenhal. Thickly lacing, moussy, egg-white, stable head over a lightly hazy old gold coloured beer with low fizz, misty with deposit. Aroma of white bread, rotting grass, garden weeds, a lot of DMS (cooked white cabbage), peach, red apple peel, hint of banana, chamomille, freshly fermented farmland, honey, old cookies - in all, not too inviting. Fruity, restrainedly sweet onset, touches of apricot, pineapple and banana, light sourish accent, medium carbo, a bit minerally, lightly bready pale malt sweetness in the middle, slick, yeastiness on top and increasing to a light bready level in the finish, where some herbal, earthy hops provide gentle bitterness. Stereotypical Belgian blonde - boring - showing a few flaws, I cannot get past the disturbing DMS odour, which, contrary to e.g. the dreaded lightstruck effect, does not fade away no matter how long you keep the beer breathing. Not impressed.

Golden beer. Big head, colapse, but stays around 1cm and sticks nice to the glass. Smell is more yeast then hops, some floral, some spices. Not bad at all. Simple but good taste of the malts, yeast, spices and something fruity. Mostly sweet-earthy, nothing that really sticks out. A small surprise for me. Simple, but good, well balanced, and nothing overwhelming. Maybe it just could use a little boost, to get a bit less watery. Less hoppy then expected, less bitter then expected.
