On tap at the Catfish, pours a dark copper with a small beige head. Aroma brings out loads of diacetyl, with a touch of roast and pine. Flavour doesn’t taste as infected, with light roast and some piney hops. Infected, but not disastrous. It’s alright. Ngejo (979) - Jakarta, INDONESIA - MAY 17, 2016
Tap. Black, rocky head, tan foam, medium bitterness, light sweetness, full body, creamy, soft carbonation, & bitter finish. Muggus69 (2521) - Yarram, Vic, AUSTRALIA - APR 14, 2015
500mL bottle Bottled 04/03/15
Pretty friggin’ dark looking - no expecting that - sort of rich mahogany coloured thing, holds a very dense beige foam.
Aroma is a punch in the face of hops; distinct passionfruit, guava, lychee, cut grass & citrus. Caramel malt underneath, biscuity, doesn’t give away too much.
Body is immense; thick, chewy, low carbonation, warming, substantial - almost reminds me of yoghurt...textually...not in a bad way.
Lovely flavours of hop and malt fuse on the body - mango, butterscotch, burnt caramel, lychee, blood orange juice, pine, touch of chocolate, again I get this yoghurt idea going, but in a good way. Insanely smooth finish, bitterness is high but sweetness wins out here, warming, welcoming.
Dangerous beer this! Hop character is tremendous, fusing well with the sweetness, giving it almost an almost "cocktail" like character. Anyway, very impressive. vanvenlo (1894) - Glen Iris, AUSTRALIA - FEB 27, 2014

Surprisingly smooth for such a strong beer, fruity hops aroma, pours dark cloudy brown with a thin tan head. Has a pleasant warming taste with caramel flavours, it can sneak up on you as the name implies. Love it. davidm (2080) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - APR 19, 2013
On tap at the Alehouse Project, 12%. Full marks, I didn’t feel the alcohol so much. Aromas of chocolate, vanilla, and liquorice. Taste is sweet and bitter, with very long length. Palate is syrupy, and full bodied. Black, with a frothy head. jonno (2790) - JAPAN - SEP 2, 2011
Listed as a Double/Triple BLACK IPA. Solid ballsy citrus rind nose. Lots of sweet alcoholic toffee malts and a blast of citrus bitterness. No real roast. Doesn’t hide the alcohol particularly well. Solid, if uninspired and not really worthy of your time unless you want to get real drunk, real quick. mkel07 (6106) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - MAY 1, 2011
At Ministry of Beers Craft Beer Festival at Archive. Whoa this one has a big alcohol kick like a nija, it could creep up on you easily. Bursting with hop aromas and flavours this is a good beer.
