Good solid beer this, big hoppy nose follows through to the flavour and on to a lingering bitter finish.

Deep bronze body (near-black in the glass), holds a solid tan head.
Mix of roast malt & resiny hop on the nose - burnt toast, grass, coffee, citrus, dark toffee, passionfruit, nuts.
Texture is smooth, full, moderate carbonation, plenty of weight to it.
Body reveals dark chocolate, coffee, burnt toast & nuts amongst citrus rind, grass, passionfruit/guava tropical sort of notes. Moderate-high bitterness, very easy finish.

Bottle share at CBC Islington, as ’Bacchus Obama Black IPA’. Thanks Obama. And Big Dave. Pours opaque black with a foamy tan head. Aroma is redcurrant, chalky, earth. Aroma is weird spicy ginger, orange, cola cubes, brown sugars, perfume. Flavour is composed of brown bready grains, ginger, cola, canned pineapple. Bottle at Craft Islington, thanks to Big Dave. It pours black with a medium tan head. The aroma is soft, bitter - sweet, plenty of dried fruits, Dandelion & Burdock and blackberry jam. The taste is smooth upfront, bitter - sweet, burnt toast, roasted malts, cocoa, earth, jammy berry and Dandelion & Burdock. Medium + body and moderate carbonation. Craft Islington bottleshare. Thanks to Big Dave. Almost opaque dark brown beer, thin pale tan head. Palate is light, dry and fairly crisp. Very mild dark malts, mild tang and dark chocolate. Generic tangy fruits. Light pine and hop spice. Floralness on the light finish. Pretty light but tasty. A welcome brew unlike Obama and his current nose poking threatening visit. He can kiss my arse.
57cl bottle shared at Dave’s tasting @CBC Islington, London. Big thanks to Dave for this one. It pours a clean dark brown color with Amber edges and a small tan head. Aroma is dried wood, roasted malts, pine cones, grass and lemon peel. Taste is medium dry and tangy with light sweet stone fruit notes. Also notes of grass earth wood and pine cones. Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Dave. Pours deep brown with a frothy, beige head. Odd nose, some burnt grass, earth, wood, roast. Light sweet flavour with some leathery berries, earth, light toast. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes with more light roast, berries, earth. So so. Clear dark brown to black color, brown head. Sweet, light fruity, roasted, grainy taste. Roasted aftertaste. Sweet, fruity, roasted scent. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bitterness.
