Back Bay’s False Cape Ale is a full bodied red ale. With a dark copper color and well rounded malt base; a bit sweet, with a lightly hopped tea-like flavor, and an even, dextrinous body. False Cape Ale is easy to please. Look for well-rounded and balanced flavors and a pleasant, toasted malt character. A drying finish comes from Cascade dry-hopping.

Grassy hay aroma with some caramel. It’s kind of smells like a basement. Taste is sweet and malty. Not much else. Not bad, I mean at the end of the day it’s a beer. This could have just been a really old bottle.

Pours a deep golden brown on tap with fluffy off-white head that lasts. Aroma and taste of mostly caramel and nutty malts, a hint of fruity yeast esters. Not as bad as some of the ratings on here, but not bad.

AKORN (220) - Virginia, USA - DEC 20, 2014
Pours a clear anber color with a big white head. Sweet, sour, bubblegum, peach and yeasty aroma. Malt, fruits, mild bitterness taste and big carbonation. Wish I could explain it better but not worth it. Booo : (

Pours copper color with off white head from tap. Flavor is rather bland and lifeless. Has a metallic mineral taste with astringent after taste. Little to no aroma. maybe due to me drinking outside near the bay, which is overpowering the aroma.

Luvystypotables (1967) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - JUN 25, 2014
A mild aroma of hops and vinegar, light brown colour not much of a head. A mild balanced taste, of nuts, hops, and tea. A watery feel with a mildly astringent finish.

BeerdedDave (1708) - Beckley, USA - JUN 19, 2014

Bottle. Label shows "Proudly Brewed & Bottled By St. George Brewing Co. - Hampton VA.". Also shows the ABV as 5.2%. Amber pour with a short tan head. Aroma is very malty and grainy with caramel notes, dark bread and earthy hops. Taste is caramel, chewy malt, toasted dark bread, grains and light earthy and floral hops. Body is medium with a moderate, bubbly carbonation. Finishes with more toasted grains, big malt, dark bread, caramel and earthy hops.

Poured from a bottle. Clear amber color, no real head. Mild hops and corn syrup aroma. Very light grain and corn syrup flavor with a weak finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft. Amber pour with a large white head. Not much aroma, just a touch of sweetness and malt. Bland but unoffensive flavor. Mostly just toasted malt sweetness.
