COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Back East Porter is a full-bodied chestnut brown porter with notes of chocolate and caramel. This hearty beer offers a thick light brown head and is hopped just enough to offset the sweet maltiness and roasty undertone. This bold beer is refreshing enough to be enjoyed year round, but is at its best as a satisfying winter warmer or paired with a grilled steak, pork roast, or a burger.

Roasted malt aroma with some cocoa and some smoke. Taste is a light bodied Porter with a slight watery palate and a slight smokey, cocoa roasted malt finish. Almost seems like maybe burnt roasted malt flavor instead of smokey? Dry bitter finish. Not a bad Porter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Mild malt and dark bread scents. Pours a dark bright brown with a thick persistent tan head. Medium lacing. Big malty dry tastes with a short crisp finish. Medium carbonation. Very nicely balanced. A super drinkable porter.

Pour from keg. Aroma is roasted bread with hints of chocolate and anise. Appearance is opaque black with minimal ring of head. Taste was medium roasted sweet with some cocoa and anise, similar to aroma. Palate is medium bodied on the creamy, silky side, but the finish was a little more bitter than I want out of a porter. Overall, this was a good beer but not a great beer.

Cask at GBBF 2015. Cola black, red hue, small foamy off-white head. Aroma is soft fruity hops, some cold coffee, lime. Body is medium, smooth, low carbonation. Taste is caramel, soft fruity hops, a little burnt chocolate with an ashy finish. Pretty good. The hops keep things interesting.
