Cuban Coffee Stout. Trade Day refers to the old Southern tradition of gathering at the crossroads to buy and sell goods of all kinds. These culturally diverse events still exist all over Alabama, and after half a century, it’s finally time to welcome our Cuban neighbors back to the crossroads. Y’all bring the coffee, we’ll bring the beer.

Bacony roasty aroma. Black, tan head. Light palate, almost watery. Schwarzy taste, chocolatey finish. Pretty decent, and good for something with coffee in.

660ml bottle (RBESG Grand Tasting 2017). Dark brown color. Tiny to almost no head. Dark horse shit in aroma. Coffee sourness, milky, roast, herbal hops in taste. Dry roast. Dry mouthfeel. Coffee bitterness. Solid brew.

Hazy dark brown to black color, tan head. Sweet, roasted scent, also grainy. Malty, sweet, roasted taste. Ash aftertaste. Medum full mouthfeel, medium bitterness.

66cl Bottle at RBESG 17 Grand Tasting. Black colour, beige head. Aroma of tar, fudge, light sour roast, hint of coffee. Flavour is quite light, roast, something burnt, some chocolate. Light bodied. Misses oomph and body. Or coffee to be a coffee stout.

(Sample from a bottle at RBESG 2017 Grand Tasting) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, burnt rubber and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, ash, stale coffee and bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt and bitter. A surprisingly poor brew.
