Bottle, from my advent calendar, Day 2. Handsome deep clear mahogany hue with a finely carbonated tan head. Aroma is a nice meaty smokiness and raisin sweetness. Strangely, this barely translates to the palate, which is more dominated by sweet dark malts that deliver flavours of raisins and caramel, allowing a hint of smokiness before a dry bitter finish sets in, ending with some lemon peel. Quite nice actually, although I wished the smokiness was a tad more assertive. slimspady (219) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 2, 2013
Black pour, thin white ring. Smoke, cocoa. Finish is dry. Very good porter. Day 2 advent calendar 2013 Malbers (18) - Alberta, CANADA - DEC 2, 2013
Centennial hops are very evident off the nose, but subdued. Piney, and subtle citrus which is not typical of a porter. Definately taking an American spin on the style. Decent malt backborn, carmel, chocolate and roasted coffee, not overly bitter, and fairly thin mouthfeel for a porter. Would be nicer if it was fuller. But overall very drinkable, and tasty. dresden (1581) - Saskatchewan, CANADA - DEC 2, 2013
Day 2. Big improvement. Clear, deep brown pour. Aroma is mostly roast mal, some smokiness, some chocolate. Taste is the same with some burnt caramel, some great piney hops and hop bitterness. A bit thin, but I could drink a lot of this.

A little watery on the front, earthy flavour comes thru on the back. Lite version of a typical porter. Bitterness is nicely balanced.

BeerAdvent 2013 Day 2. Pours translucent dark brown off-white head. Nose is mild roast, toffee, nuts. Flavour is mild choc, toffee, ash, slight licorice. Very refreshing, for a porter. More robust than the average English porter and less so than the aggressive burnt malt Americans, cuts down the middle in a nice way. presario (4916) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 30, 2013
OK, this is much better for Advent Calendar Day 2. Mahogany with light head. Malty aroma with nice touch of sticky booze. Warm malt flavor. Some chocolate, a bit of sourness and hops. Nice aftertaste with some burnt toffee notes. jjgmd (2180) - Coral Springs, Florida, USA - NOV 20, 2013
Bottle. pours a dark opaque deep brownish black color, with a nice java head. Nose is malty, with coffee and chocolate notes. Taste is malty with sweet chocolate notes, and very light. Finish is a nice bittersweet. Decent drinkable porter from the backroads of Alabama. Quaff Score 7 / 10 zgaier (1957) - Coral Springs, Florida, USA - NOV 20, 2013
Pours brown with a tan head and aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Roasted malt, sweet chocolate, and smokey notes at first, while light bodied, with a dry, roasty chocolate finish. Light, drinkable, solid porter that goes down easy wpr (4) - Mississippi, USA - NOV 20, 2013 does not count
Overall a decent beer. Not much for aroma. Nice chocolate and roasted malt flavor is what makes this beer. Poured from a bottle - appearance just doesn't do it for me.
