UPDATED: AUG 20, 2013 12 oz. Bottle poured into glass. Nice tan/khaki head. Some lacing.Smells of citrus (tangerine) chocalate, and grizzly straight. Taste is bright citrus hops, bitter chocolate, smoked coffee beans and caramel. Great brew from Alabama. One of my all time favorites and from my state. ordybill (1815) - Douglasville, Georgia, USA - JUL 6, 2015
Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass.
This beer is a dark brown colored brew with a medium sized off-white colored head. The aroma is a distinct blend of malt, hops and cocoa. the taste is really good and is a fine example of an American Porter. The palate is a medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation.
Overall- A really good porter that is another example of a fine beer from Back Forty

UPDATED: MAR 2, 2014 Bottle pour at RC Brewfest. Dark, amber brown with a thick foamy head. Rich, earthy aroma - lots of malt and roasted nut. Full, rich taste, strong roasted malt with some nut and sweetness to it, but with some bitterness for balance. Nice aftertaste. SSSteve (4006) - - MAR 31, 2013
bottle. huge foamy head with a clear brown beer. floral hop and tar, tobacco aroma. chalky, bitter, ashy and a bit of molasses or licorice in the flavor. light and sessionable. good job. HonusWagner (2218) - Florida, USA - NOV 2, 2014
Remarkably good citrusy hoppy porter, reminiscent of Jose Marti. I definitely didn’t expect a beer of this quality from an unknown in Alabama. Good stuff.

Excellent beer! Tan head, with a full aroma of chocolaty and roasted notes. Medium to heavy mouth feel with a full body and a nice bitter finish. andrewturba (1190) - Alberta, CANADA - DEC 3, 2013
Craft beer advent calendar day 2! Pours a clear dark brown with a small beige head leaving bits of lace on the glass. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malts, smoke, rich maltiness, coffee, and toffee. Flavour is cocoa, coffee, roasted malts, mild bitterness, light smoke, mild dark fruit esters and a dry finish. Much better day 2 beer. jbruner (5122) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - SEP 14, 2012
Pours a translucent, chocolate brown from the bottle with a thin tan head and light lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate, roasted malt, and fresh grain. Taste is coffee, roasted malt, slight bitter hoppiness. Good porter, my first beer from alabama. ads135 (4924) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - JUN 2, 2013
An average porter with a better than average name. Its a shame the beer couldn’t have incorporated some actual kudzu into the beer... Josh brought this one back with him from Mississippi in 2013. unclemattie (4357) - Georgia, USA - JUN 19, 2013
12oz bottle. Dark brown pour. Aroma of toasted grains, burnt malt. Hearty flavor! Burnt sugar bitterness, sharp licorice, bold pine, heavy roast. Rich flavors. It’s a big Porter. (3736)
