Bottle thanks to BBB63. I see ike has certainly spread the wealth with this one. Near black with a thin lid of small tan bubbles. Acid coffee, dark chocolate, dark currants and unripe berries in the aroma. Thicker and smooth on the tongue. Earthy dark malt sweetness starts the trip that seems to have a thin coat of tar. White pepper and a touch grain are ground aside the path. Mild bit oaf acid thins this one out and also seems to have a touch of oak. The step child to PP Santa’s Little Helper.
Pour is explosively black with the brown head dominating (infection?)...smell is roasty, but no one thing really stands out...taste is sweet with hints of cocoa and light hints of coffee...pretty mild overall...faint roasty finish... Kevin (2199) - Montana, USA - SEP 2, 2005
from BBB63. black pour with a thin grey head. roasty raspberry grape alcohol aroma. taste is acorns, and schnapps. very bitter with a grape finish. lingering cheese with a pear finish. Lumpy (1802) - Carrollton, Texas, USA - SEP 2, 2005
Bottle. Wow. Smokey and meaty. Reminds me of spiced smoked pork. Very, very rich and spicy like BBQ pork. Good amount of sweet, spice, and smoke. Interesting, but I don’t think that this is an impy. MIBRomeo (2570) - Wisconsin, USA - MAY 5, 2005
pours a dark black w/ a very thin nearly non existent tan head. First wave smell was delicious. Big dry roasted malt smell nice hints of coffee and a bit of syruppy. Palate is fairly solid nice mouth feel coats well. Flavor is of dry roast coffee and bitter baking cocoa, a little sweet syrup in the finish. Overall a pretty good beer and at 8.8% it must hide its booze well as I didn’t pick it up at all. richlikebeer (838) - Easton, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 3, 2005
bottle from BBB63, pours a thick jet black with a nice layer of creamy coffee colored head. aroma is chocolate and burnt. flavor is exactly the same, with more and more chocolates coming through as the beer warmed a little. amazingly smooth mouthfeel, and just a perfectly sweet aftertaste. saying thanks to mike just doesnt seem like enough after yet another awesome brew.

A pitch black beer with a medium brown head. Dry roasted aroma. Roast and coffee flavor. Tasty and full-bodied. Good one! Kinz (3786) - Glen Allen, Virginia, USA - APR 2, 2005
Thanks to BBB63 for this one! Wasn’t entirely certain what kind of beer this would be when I opened it, delighted to find a good stout! Poured a thick black, short lived dark tan head. Aroma was of roast and molasses. Flavor matched, with the sweet molasses cutting nicely through the slight tang of roast. Very enjoyable, with a slight treacle note as well. A black beer with a disappearing chocolate brown head. The aroma is sweet roasty with notes of chocolate. The flavor is sweet roasted and slightly sour with notes of chocolate. The end is dry and the body is nice. madsberg (11770) - Søborg, DENMARK - MAR 18, 2005
Bottled: Brown colourd. Brown dense head. Chocolate, fruit, sweetness in the aroma. Flavour is light hoppy, roasted and has some alcohol notes. Ends on a fruity bitterness with a light alcohol touch on the lips. Nice one: Thanks BBB63 for sending this in my secret santa package.
