Bomber from Hi-Time in Costa Mesa, CA. Pours a lightly copper tinged gold with a transient white head. Aroma of citrus and floral perfume with maybe a hint of spice. Med body. Flavor starts very rye and the malt is covered by floral and likely citrus hop. It’s pretty ryeish, and pretty tasty. Leaves a nice rye bitter in the finish.

Draft @the brewpub. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a white head. Has a fruity malty hoppy bitter citrus aroma. Fruity malty hoppy biter grapefruit flavor. Has a fruity malty hoppy bitter grapefruit finish.

Poured from a tap into a pint glass at Breakwater Brewery in Oceanside, Calif., on Aug. 8, 2012 for $3.00 (Happy Hour). Finger of head when I got it, with khaki, frothy lacing. Beer was a deep caramel brown color. Unpleasant super foamy retention. Smelled nutty, toffee, rye hops. Also a light floral aroma. Tasted a bit similar to the nose, only not as much rye. Got nutty, wet watery hops with a wet watery finish. Pretty bland overall. Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt bitter finish. Pretty much the definition of an average beer. Would never try it again on purpose.

Draft at the brewpub. Clear amber/reddish, with off white head. Citrus, fresh piney hops, very noticeable rye malt, grapefruit, lightly malty. A nice clean easy drinking IPA, with interesting rye twist. I like it.

#1!

Appearance: Pours a yellow gold with a thin white film on top.

Aroma: Citrus zest and rye malt.

Taste: Citrus zest and very pronounced earthy rye notes.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, perfect level of carbonation.

Overall: Another solid IPA from Backstreet Vista. Of all the "Rye" IPA’s I’ve had, this is the most pronounced by far.
