COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by the traditional gueuze beers of Belgium, BACKACRE matures for more than a year in oak barrels to develop a fruity, earthy, and refreshingly tart character. The careful blending of different barrels creates a sparkling golden ale with a crisp and complex nature akin to cider or dry champagne.

Sample from the bottle at Beer Meets Wood. Hazy golden color with a decent bubbly white head. Earthy light funk with plenty of tart fruits to counter. Clean well crafted stateside "gueuze" Completely impressed with this offering, I went back for seconds.

Where: A gift enjoyed at a tasting event, thanks Maxbier and dlovell2 and Steve. How: 750 ml bottle. Pours a darker golden orange body, a finger offwhite head with good retention. Aroma of lemon, earth, mild funk, smells good. Taste is a bit muted, primarily lemon, earth, citrus, floral notes, fruit. Very good flavors, not overly complicated, sharp and bright. Palate is medium bodied, good carbonation, fairly drinkable. Overall, a great sour, and much appreciation to Dan for sharing with us!

Sergey’s hunt; 7.3% ABV; BL07 (if it means anything; maybe Blend 07)
Cloudy golden color. Nice aroma, wet cellar and cobwebs, some Lambic, funky. The mouthfeel is a bit oily; strong acidity, lemony character that blends well with mild funky character, and light cheesy tough.
Somehow, it has some Lambic character in it. Very good.

750ml bottle @ the office. Pours a hazy golden colour with a tiny white head. Nose is earthy, with a tart bitter note that is reminiscent of a gueuze. Flavour is very tasty mix of earthyness, citrus fruity, and a barrel character. It is somewhat gueuze like in flavour but not quite. Tasty stuff.

Bottle - Lots of funk and light barrel notes with a touch of citrus. Cloudy gold with a decent white head. Nice funky notes, touch of citrus and a nice clean finish.

750ml bottle (thx, John P.!) shared at Brians office. Blend #7. Pours a hazy golden with a weak white head. Aroma is earthy, fruity, close to gueuze aroma. Same taste. Very good.

750mL bottle, pours a cloudy golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of oak, moderate acidity, and some light horse blanket. Flavour is fairly acidic, with some horse blanket, oak, and light leather. On the more acidic side, and nothing like a gueuze. Its a nice sour, but nothing special.
