Cask @ Pear Tree (JDW), kings Heath, Birmingham, black with a tan head with roasted malts , hoppy ,chocolate and plum taste leaving a aftertaste of a malty chocolate and slight plum porter , not bad . Mr_Pink_152 (5772) - Lincoln, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - SEP 13, 2016
Tried at the Felix holt, Nuneaton. The pump clip called it a black IPA, and who am I to argue. Black colour with a tan head. Light malty roasted aroma with a touch of choc. Fruity sweetish taste. Medium body. DanielBrown (4567) - Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, ENGLAND - OCT 10, 2015
Cask at Figure of Eight, Birmingham. Definitely calls itself a BIPA now, but isn’t hoppy, nor black enough to be that. A fairly reasonable Premium I’d say. Okish toasty taste, with gentle graininess and a salt crust. Pretty light. jmgreenuk (10386) - Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA - OCT 8, 2015
Cask at the Pump House, Shirley, Solihull. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy off white head. The aroma is light hop, light roast. The flavour is moderate bitter with a rich, light grassy hop, light floral, light coffee malt palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A very hopped down black IPA which was a bit of a disappointment. Travlr (26430) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - OCT 7, 2015
Cask shared with BlackHaddock at the White Lion. Clear maroon color, large beige head. Aroma of roasty pine. Taste is deep roasted coffee grounds. Tasty.

Hand-pulled half-pint, shared with Gene in The White Lion, Bridgnorth Shropshire on 5th Oct 2015 as we ’did Shropshire in a day’. Black bodied with a good tan topping that gave some good lacing. Aroma was roasted coffee beans with mild vanilla hints, the taste also leaning towards a coffee flavour, semi-sweet overall, with traces of piny hops in the finish. imperial, walsall. Black beer with medium off white head and excellent lacing. Aroma of roasted coffee. Taste is roasted malts, sweetish, hops, dried fruit and some pine resin. Some cream on the palate. Good beer, whatever style it is.
(Bottled) I was looking forward to this because it stated ’Cascadian’ on the bottle , thus i optimistically expected a hoppy dark monster, imdownthepub is right not to list this as a Black IPA ; but not to say its not pleasant. notes of roast malt, toffee , present licorice notes . The hop profile here ismore shy and breezy than one would seek in a’ Cascadian’ type beer imdownthepub (15526) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 13, 2011
Cask conditioned at Fleetwood Beer Fest ’11. Dark chestnut with cream head. Initially quite malty sweet, some dark liquorice notes with plummy fruity notes and then a pleasing leafy hoppy follow through. Nice and fresh despite the conditions in the beer fest the previous night. Good stuff.
