3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Single 11.2 oz bottle purchased from Hunger Mountain (Montpelier, VT) for $4. To the snifter it pours a richly purplish dark-brown with a trim not-exactly-tan-but-not-exactly-khaki-either head. Like so many in the style, I’m getting a surge of figs and dates, roast, candi sugar, caramel, English yeast, cocoa and hops to the side. Damn fine! Tastes as it smells, however there’s an intriguing earthiness by swallow which is tryingly hushed by leather, charcoal and brown sugar. Getting some ginger notes, too. It has this rather interesting warming sensation you find out by your first sip, so not accurately hidden at all. Goes from sweet, to earthy to grainy to...I don’t even know what! Exciting beer nonetheless. Glad I had the opportunity to try out a Swiss porter without having to travel very far. But, I don’t know, this almost too sweet to handle. I’d say this was one of the more unbalanced porters I’ve had. Finishing it, though.
Bottle from Drinks of the World. Dark and roasty, mostly coffee, intense. Has the depth and width I was hoping for. Feelings of booze, bitterness and roast appear on the tongue, but sometimes also hints of water. A good beer nonetheless. Nevalainen (825) - FINLAND - JAN 22, 2016
Cloudy dark, almost black, color. Aroma is smokey, chocolate. Taste is sweet with smokey notes, maybe some vanilla notes also. A good one. MiP (15962) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - JAN 22, 2016
Bottle, 8.15%. Salty liquorice aroma, late roasted barley bitterness. Almost black colour. Small stable creamy light brown head. The flavour starts off roasted with a mild coffee note and some rough roasted barley. It has a distinct metal note that I have a hard time forgiving. Iron and vitamin pill. Without the metal, it would have been nice enough. martin00sr (4406) - Haderslev, DENMARK - JAN 22, 2016
Good roasted aroma with light chocolate and hoppy notes. Cloudy, dark brown with light beige head. Chocolate and coffee flavour, with some light syrupy notes and alcohol showing through, even some licorice in the finish. Light to medium mouthfeel, still flavourful. Bottle fra CH-303 - thank you, Asbjørn! Pours cloudy very dark brown with airy light tan head. Clear aroma of roast, malt and coffee, with subtle hints of acetone. Roasty flavour with hoppy, malty and sourish, acetonelike notes and a good deal of coffee. Dusty and lactic hints. Roasty and slightly nutty aftertaste. Decent.

33cl @ porter. Aroma e aspetto da migliorare ma ottimo gusto, sembra un po’ annacquata ma in realtà ne fa una birra molto beverina. Ottimo gusto. Reimer96 (1743) - Alberta, CANADA - NOV 21, 2015
Smooth as all hell.. Lots of roast character... But never harsh, Aroma of chocolate but never seems like you’re in a chocolate factory and goes down way too smooth for 8 percent. Beerdedone (3446) - Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 24, 2015
Bottle. Pours dark brown near black with a thick beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, and light coffee. Flavor of dark chocolate, roast, coffee, a touch of smoke and had a pleasant bitterness. Cunningham (8282) - Halden, NORWAY - OCT 15, 2015
This beer had unfortunately a to light body and mild flavor for a beer with almost no carbonation. Could have been an ok porter with some carbonation.Cousin_Larry (895) - - OCT 10, 2015
Complete black with no head. Mostly cold coffee, mild roast and chocolate. To flat carbonation.

This has been a good day for beer. Another 4+ beer courtesy of The Malt Shoppe. Good sweet Imperial Porter.
