Bottle @home (rating backlog). Pours black, tan head. Nose is chocolate, woody, roasted malts. Taste is more chocolate, slight coffee. Grumbo (3454) - Ipswich, Suffolk, ENGLAND - MAY 20, 2017
Bottle from Beers of Europe. Poured very dark brown with a lasting beige coloured head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, touch of vanilla and dark fruit. Medium sweetness, toward heavy roasted coffee bitterness. Medium body, slight oily texture, carbonation bit too lively. dogbomb (1239) - ENGLAND - DEC 23, 2016
Bottle. Dark brown/black ale with a thin brown head. Nose is creamy, coffee and chocolate with a spot of whisky. Taste is watery than I thought it would be, but its nice and smooth. Drinks easily and is quite tasty :) Antzrhere (181) - Blackpool, Lancashire, ENGLAND - OCT 15, 2016
Pours jet black. Strong burnt roast coffee taste with abit of caramel. Missing a strong malt backbone. Although the coffee is nicely done and certainly delivers on the promised flavour, i find it a little one dimensional for my taste. Not bad, not great, probably better than average and certainly not lacking in flavour intensity. nimbleprop (8591) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - AUG 8, 2016
12oz bottle pours a muddy dark brown/black with some clumpy, khaki head. Nose has malt, toast, some mild coffee bean, black pepper, chocolate. Flavor has black pepper, a little roasted mushroom, even some roasted tomato, malt, coffee bean. Finishes dry, a touch spritzy/spicy. OK.

Wonderful coffee aroma, nice fresh coffee, not stale grounds. Taste also has lots of coffee, and fortunately no beaniness. Very full palate. Some vanilla in the finish. Remarkably drinkable given howhow huge the roast is. Lots of burnt malts, but no astringency. Coffee used very well. If you have to use adjuncts, do it like this.
