COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mike Fink pioneered the growing river traffic of the Ohio and Mississippi rivers at the turn of the 18th century. Aptly dubbed the ‘King of the River’, it is fabled that Big Mike Fink could drink a gallon of whiskey and still shoot the tail off a pig at 90 paces. With a big legend comes a big beer. Made with spicy and rich American rye malt, which gives the style its noticeable haze, and Red X malt to bring out its reddish color, Fink delivers a malty body teeming with toffee and caramels. Blended with Falconer’s Flight hops to highlight a tropical, grapefruit zest, everything we put in this beer comes together to create a flavor as big as the legend himself.

Draft to taster at Jungle Jim pour copper with thin tan head. Nose minimal nose, some malt. Taste moderate bitter up front with dank hop flavors. Toffee and sweeter malt. Seems overly watered down.

Draft at Bad Tom on January 17, 2015. Dark brown amber hue, moderate bittersweet grainy aroma, moderate to strong bittersweet flavor with a good deal of rye. Very good brew.

on tap @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Hazy amber brown, ivory rim head, splotches of lace. Taste is sweet molasses malt that grows as it moves through the palate. On the swallow, a burst of what seems like unfermented yeast shows up messing with a finish that shows light bittering. Doesn’t quite work.

Hazy dark amber with an attractive sticky khakhi colored head. Light citrus hop nose. Orange peel and red grapefruit with nice sweet caramel and toffee notes. Noticeable rye notes in finish. Tastey beer.

Sample at The Crest. The beer pours a hazy dark amber color with a medium light beige head that recedes steadily to a film. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of roast malt, caramel and rye. Medium-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, earthy hops and mildly spicy rye. The finish is malty with a mildly spicy hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Taster at brew haha - interesting spice notes. Quite hoppy. Malty backbone is an understatement. ABV is well hidden.

8oz on tap at the brewery. Nice hazy darker red orange color. Thin khaki head. Leaves good dots of lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. Lightly slick finish. Interesting malt profile... Some spicy rye, oats, caramel malt. Tropcial fruity, kind of zesty light grapefruity citrusy hop. Moderate sweet taste, moderate bitter. Solid, smooth, drinkable sort of American strong ale. DOes a very good job at hiding the big ABV.

Draft. Poured a hazy reddish copper color with a moderate frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate roasted malt and rye aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy dark bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet tingly finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable brew.
