Bottled. Deep ruby with rich firm head. Fruity, flowery hop aroma. Sweet and richly malty with pleasant soft mouthfeel. Aromatic hops and plums are obvious. Salty, bitter finish. Wow... fiulijn (21214) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 6, 2004
Dark amber color. Nice aroma of malt, caramel, some fine hop. Strong mouthfeel, malt, a lot of caramel, a bit burning alcohol; strong ending bitterness. Not really complex, but very good. Thanks Philippe (Bov) for sharing this one. Bov (13221) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - AUG 1, 2004
clear ruby-brown colour, almost no foam, prune and alcohol, malt and pepper, robust body, long malty, alcohol and pruny finish - impressive ! - Thanks Per for this bottle. Skinnyviking (9720) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - NOV 17, 2007
Bottle. High creamy and long lasting off-white head. Very dark red body. In fact you will have to hold it close to light, otherwise yould say it was black. Hoppy caramel cocoa aroma. Mild and round coffee caramel flavor with a nice bitterness. Low carbonation and a long coffee aftertaste. The high alcohol percentage is well hidden. arminjewell (9720) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - SEP 5, 2010
Pours deep red with off white head, aroma of caramel, burnt toast, and some aged hops. Taste is old hops, with caramel, molasses, some burnt, with a pretty bitter finish. Not bad.

Bottled 600ml. -from big Carrefour in Sorocaba, Brazil. Clear amber coloured, medium sized off-white head, malt and whiff of alcohol in the nose. Sweet toasted malt, caramel and dried fruits with pretty strong alcohol presence. Also noticable alcohol in rather sweet finish. Not bad at all. swoopjones (7020) - Buffalo, New York, USA - FEB 18, 2008
Bottle @ Coles Barleywine Festival 2008 Buffalo NY. Not much aroma going on here. Sugary sweet, alcohol is very well hidden. Slight honey & herbal tea presence. Very easy drinking but didnt really come off as a barleywine. Thanks Crystal for the bottle dwyerpg (6410) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - JUN 25, 2014
Undoubtedly one of the best Brazilian beers of the whole trip. A strong hop presence but also tons of caramel malts. Thankfully there’s enough hops that it isn’t sweet. Great stuff. JK (6294) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA - SEP 19, 2010
Dark red. Lots of caramel aroma and flavor. All malt, lightly sweet, with considerable alcohol on the palate. Herbal finish. It could use some age, but a solid beer. Skyview (6099) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - SEP 6, 2010
Sampled from 550 ml bottle and shared by JK. Pours a clear copper amber colored brew with a fast dissolving beige head that dissipates to a thin ring and minimal lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, some floral hops, dark pitted fruits and a hint of raisin. Taste is medium bodied, soft carbonation, with flavors of caramel malt, a hint of cherries/berries, raisin and floral hops. Finish has a powdery malt and semi-dry aftertaste and the alcohol is well hidden.
