Name change in August 2011 from Blandford Fly
With the hot summer sun beating down, the patient fly-fishermen of the Dorset Stour await their catch. These ’Flyers’ are celebrated in this warming ale with ginger overtones, rumoured to be originally included to remedy the bites of the infamous Blandford Fly. The rounded sweetness of this medium-bodied brew makes it an ideal and refreshing accompaniment to a hot lamb biryani or spicy crispy chilli beef.

Bottle. Clear golden colour, decent white head of pretty good retention. That’s it in terms of advantadges. Gingery aroma. Hints of malts and fruit. Light to medium body. Sweet malty taste. Spicy. A little hot. What about hops? They are on holidays I guess. The worst from Badger so far.

Bottle 50cl, a very sweet and artificial like beer, notes of ginger and juniper and light bitterness finish on sugar and artificial fruit notes, poor

Horrendous. The worst beer I have ever tried. Something is deeply wrong with this heinous brew. The other beers in the Badgers Sett from Lidl were pretty good. Two nice hoppy ones, and a middling fruity effort. But this - first beer I have ever tipped down a sink. Nasty, nasty, nasty.

Inclassable ! Très déroutante sur la première gorgée, puis on s’habitue. Le gingembre est très présent, donne un goût sucré et une arrière bouche poivrée. A déguster sur un plat épicé.

Bottle. Gold (ginger) pour with a thick white head. Before I even hold this close to my nose, I can smell the ginger notes. Up to the face, and its ginger beer! Maybe a slight lemoniness to it. Taste is, much milder than ginger beer. There is definitely a strong ginger note there, but theres a decent breadiness. Making this taste a bit more like a slice of ginger cake. Sweet, and light. Not too gingery, but just enough to give a little bite of fire. Some toffee. Very nice.

Bottle. Amber/golden coloured. Small head. Aroma of bananas, citrus fruits and ginger. Taste is sweet ginger, malts and some bananas. Low carbonation. Creamy. It’s ok but I don’t think I’ll often be in the mood for this one.

Brownish Amber colour. This is a grown up ginger beer, I much prefer it to Crabbies. The taste is of sweet ginger, it’s not subtle, but it’s not fiery. Has a malty backbone which may put some people off. Price Paid: 2 for £4 in 2015.

Bottle - Ginger and some sweetness. Clear gold with a rich white head. Ginger and sweetness. Pretty ordinary.
