The key to appreciating a true strong bitter: A balance that you’ll savor. Our pronounced hop usage has been compensated with smooth malt perfectly. Presenting our inaugural brew, with hints of its English roots and a whole lotta Minnesota depth to explore.

Tap pour at New Bohemia. An amber, maybe copper ale. Good lacing. Appearance is definitely deceiving. Taste is bitter and only bitter. No balance and seemingly no finesse. Taste lacks the floral hop resin and leads more into a bitter malty lack of satisfaction. Probably worth skipping.

Pour on tap at APN 2013, orange-red pour with thin white head, aroma brought notes of spice, herbal notes, hints of caramel, toffee, some biscuit and bread notes, slight touch of grass and orange in there as well. Taste is a mix of some biscuit, bread, slight spice, grass, into some caramel, toffee, hints of slight citrus, finishing fairly bitter, dry. Not bad.

Cloudy rust color with quick diminishing head. English malts on the nose. Taste- English malts, crackers, spicy hops. Medium body, med bitterness, solid maltiness. A solid bitter and one I'd buy again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured medium amber with a huge frothy off white head. Aroma of sweet citrus and caramel malt. Medium, creamy smooth body, flavour of the aroma fairly well balanced.

Bottle. Pours dark amber with medium head. Aroma has mildly fruity hops, behind sweet malty aroma some very slight peaty notes., Flavor is really well balanced for an American ESB - initial caramel toastiness followed by a memorable combination of herbal and resinous hops. This is a really well thought out beer with just enough bitter dryness to cleanse the palate and just enough residual malt sugar and earthiness to keep one craving more. A very well done ESB.
