Pale amber colour, with a big persistent and creamy head. Fruity aroma (plum and apricot). The flavour is well balanced, quite fruity (pineapple, apple and plum), with a light hoppy finish. Refreshing.

2016 catch up - Bottles at home - I enjoyed the first bottle, but then really wasn’t keen on the others. There was fruit and a hit of alcohol, but it really didn’t have much going for it. There was definite pear to the flavour, which was about the only interesting thing about it.

Bottle that’s been lurking at the back of the cupboard for a good while. Light amber musty aroma tastes biscuit caramel short bitter finish drinkable enough.

Bottle. Light golden in colour. Hoppy; floral and spicy dry hops. Fruity; hints of melon and pear. Malty; biscuity malts and caramel. Sweet malts and medium hop bitterness. OK. Drinkable. (2011-02-14)

A bottle at ’The Three Lions’ in Yuanshan. Aroma: hay, faint citrus fruit. Appearance: hazy, golden, minimal head. Palate: medium-bodied, rather thin in texture, soft carbonation. Bitter at the finish, but with a disappointing earthy aftertaste. Taste: a medium degree of bitterness, I couldn’t come to terms with the flavour at the end. Perhaps the draught version tastes nicer.

Dorada limpia, un dedo de espuma blanca. Fuerte aroma a malta y cereal. En boca es lo que anunciaba en el aroma, dulzona, muy cereal. Poco cuerpo, algo metálica. Solo pasa muy fría. Puff

The aroma took me back to Leopard Lager in the late 80s. I got all nostalgic for my innocent years, but the taste was a little odd, making my tongue feel like I’d licked a 9 volt battery.

Bottle. Pours a clear golden colour with a thin white head. Aroma of cereal malts, bread, some caramel, subtle fruit and slight spicy hops. Taste of cereal malts, some caramel, subtle fruits, a little mineral and slight spicy, grassy hops. Light bodied and moderate carbonation. A dry, slightly astrigent, grassy hop bitterness in the finish. Started off ok like a decent bitter but turned very thin, tasteless and astrigent. Quite disappointed because I used to like this on cask.

Bottle from Co-op, Minehead. Golden with a head. Lightly sweetened bitter and well balanced with its hops and malts.

Just had a Neame Spitfire before this. This is closer to a lager, less sweet. Grassy and bready. Only faint late sweetness. It’s easy to drink but I would probably take a decent lager over this, and there are certainly better ESBs.
