A wonderful spirit of camaraderie, cooperation and mutual support exists in the world of craft brewing. We have harnessed this spirit fully in the crafting of this special collaborative brew dedicated to the resilient people of Japan who are bravely endeavoring to overcome the tragedy of the March 11, 2011 earthquake and tsunami. We tip our brewing hats to the quiet elegance and humble sophistication of Japanese culture through the judicious addition of Japanese whole leaf green tea to this big, bold, spicy and herbal IPA. Cheers, Japan!

12oz bottle. Pours cloudy orange with a 2 finger thick white head. The nose is caramel and citrus. The taste is earthy hops, bitter citrus rind, grapefruit and booze. Medium bodied. Not digging this one – too boozy and unbalanced.

I didn't take any extra notes when I tried this beer for the first time but I'm gonna try it again and update my comments. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

...which is why so many people are allergic to peanuts. The peanuts are emitting toxins as an evolutionary defense mechanism. They’re tired of being eaten and now they’re fightin’ back!

Second edition, 2015. Unique herbal aroma and taste...with fine IPA bitterness. Alcohol evident. Clear dark Amber color.

Drank in 2015 and aged from 2011. Pours a clear gold. Has a very strong green tea and sugar taste. An incredible strong green tea taste with citrus hops. A slight lingering bitter taste with sweet citrus.

2nd edition from a bomber. They call this one 10.1% abv. Yellow orange straw color with a moderate head. Not too much carbonation. Rice on the nose and some of the green tea as well. For a double, this is very smooth. Definitely taste the ipa. I am pleasantly surprised.

sweetness (candi sugar) but the malt definitely makes it’s presence known and balances the beer well. the green tea comes in as an herbal smell, a little more obvious in the flavor as it warms...and the mix of hops used (especially the sorachi ace) is unique and blend well together. nice brew. you can definitely taste the baird and stone influences clearly."

(Backlog) Bottle at blind tiger for eyedrinkale’s birthday 9/14/2011. Hazy golden pour with white head. Green tea, light ginseng, some citrus tones. Very easy drinking, tea flavor ipa.

Bottle gift from SJ. Nice notes of citrus, grass, grapefruit, earth, lime and caramel malt. Somewhat refreshing. A bit bold, I liked it.

12oz bottle - A pretty unasuming bottle but I guess when you are Stone and you are releasing an IPA, it better deliver...and this one does. The green tea really doesn’t come out until it hits the palate and it’s really nice. The beer pours out a light amber color, tons of floaties/particles in my beer with an initial 2" off-white head. Aroma has a kind of light alcoholic aroma, perfumy, beet sugar thing going on with a really light hop aroma. The flavor comes out though with both barrels blasting. A really nice combo of green tea and piney/sappy hops. The green tea really suprised me on how assertive it was against the hops. Carbonation is medium, mouthfeel is medium. When the carbonation lightens up a bit, the green tea really comes out a little more. Really a nice beer.
