Bottle at Vendome NoHo. I am really unclear as to why this is getting passed over in the ratings. This is a very good brown ale. Color is a very dark brown with an engaging tan, fluffy head. Nose is full of hops, light berries, sweet malt. Flavor is all of those in great concert plus roast and a hint of yam. I could drink this often, and probably should. UPDATED: JAN 21, 2012 Litchi with sweet hoppy aroma. Pours cloudy brown with nice creamy head. Amazing head in terms of longevity. Initial taste is litchi and bitter hops with malty sweetness, turning rather dry and then moreish calling for the next swig. Well balanced bitter sweet and fuity as warms up sits at roof of your mouth. Awesome! zacgillbanks (5294) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - JUL 20, 2012
Bottle from BrewDog website. A dark brown beer with sweet chocolate, floral, vanilla, sarsaparilla notes and a fruity finish. Excellent! dwyerpg (6217) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - DEC 19, 2010
Hard to argue with this high score...this is easily one of my top 5 browns. Crisp, sweet malts, quite a bit of caramel, this starts out just excellent. A bit thinnish, sticky finish brings it down just a tad, but overall this is quite good. Nesta13 (205) - AUSTRALIA - DEC 31, 2003
OK firstly: this brewery is great! This is my first review but I"ll do more soon.
OK looks FANTASTIC! Medium brown colour with a consistent white head. Has a fantastic fresh hop profile..... this sort of beer is really hard to come by here in japan. All you would want in a beer of this type and more.

7/8 Taste Bottle. Looks: Clear brown with clinging creamy foam. Aroma: A little malt sweetness. Taste: Nice and full flavored. Mild sweetness and chew of the malt. Great spice and kick from the spice/floral hops blend. An even sour. Top notch recipe, underrated. presario (4916) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 30, 2011
Bottle. Dusty dark copper and chocolate. Thick lasting layer of cream and lacing you could eat with a spoon. Aroma and flavour are brown ale with a twist. Is it a hin of Belgian or Japanese character? Very drinkable. Roast malt, bit of chocolate milk and that terroir or unique character.. S_Side_Smitty (775) - Lakeland, Florida, USA - SEP 26, 2014
Pours brown-amber with a medium off white head. Aroma is molasses and not quite (almost) chocolaty malts. Taste is heavy sweet malts up front with a bitter hoppy twang taking over the mid palate and leading to a steady bitter finish. Tastewise, this could almost be a black IPA, but the color’s all wrong. A great brown, however, packed with flavor. nearbeer (5456) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - SEP 25, 2008
355 ml. Translucent chestnut with a garnet tint. Creamy, quarter-inch head frosts the glass all the way down. Citrus, cocoa and molasses aromas also have a hint of evergreen. Big flavors are similar with some additions of coffee, toasted nut, oak, apple and more evergreen resin. Medium body is a little watery, mostly smooth and very roasty-dry. Good beer that seems a hybrid of a coffee porter and a brown, that’s then hopped like a Pale Ale. Cybercat (5879) - Georgia, USA - FEB 14, 2010
Inviting aroma is strong and malty with a nice undertone of fruit and a hint of brown sugar. Pours with a VERY thick and fluffy, and fairly persistent, cream-white head. Beer itself is a clear, warm mahogany. Flavor is very pleasing, malty with an undertone of hoppy bitterness and hints of fruit and honey sweetness. Texture is very smooth, slightly tingly, quite pleasant.
