Bottle at RBJG courtesy of KyotoLefty, thank you sir! Cloudy golden color. Aroma of lightly spiced grass and subtle fruit. Taste is similar. Theis (15151) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - APR 29, 2013
Bottle at RBJG#2 - Grand Tasting Tim’s Place. Clear amber - white head. Rye, fruity, sweet notes, bisquit, ok hoppy, spicy notes, citrus, grassy, nice resin, grape fruits, ok bitter finish. KyotoLefty (10693) - Kyoto, JAPAN - MAR 3, 2009
UPDATED: JAN 13, 2012 On tap at Cheers. Light copper color with a thin head. Aroma: quite hoppy, with light malts. Light rye feel in the mouth. Good maltiness, caramel and fruity, but light. Great hops. DuffMan (10667) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 4, 2016
Bottle. Very hazy deep gold, lively white head. Malt forward, biscuit with a touch of vanilla sweetness, vague citrus hop character, firm bitter finish. I suspect freshness is an issue here. Still, I drank the whole thing.... MartinT (10036) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 25, 2013
My Bottom Line:
AndySnow (8119) - Huddinge, SWEDEN - APR 2, 2013
Citrusy hops and lean cereals meet before leafy hop resins provide a flavorful bitterness.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the amber-hued golden.
-The mouthfeel is soft and feels natural.
-The flavor profile is balanced, as is the case for almost every Baird beer I’ve had.
-This is highly drinkable for the style.
-Aromatic hops could be more engaging for the style.
Bottle at RBJG 2 Grand Tasting, thanks KyotoLefty. Amber colour with a small white head. Fruity hops aroma. Flavour matches the aroma, fruity hops. reebtogi (6385) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 14, 2014
330ml bottle pours a hazy golden orange color with a finger and a half of white head that leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is grapefruit and pine with some spicy notes and caramel. Taste is a bold grapefruit and pine hop bitterness with some spicy pepper notes and a caramel malty sweetness. This brew is much more complex than I can describe here. One of the better IPA’s that I have tried in a few months. Outstanding! TimE (6130) - Tokyo, JAPAN - MAR 21, 2009
Spicy rye and cinammon notes hit the nose with just a touch of citrus. Spicy, fruity, fig, citrusy mouth. Lingering bitterness. Rye is nice, but I didn’t find the beer particularly balanced - odd given that all other Baird beers are balanced, even if I don’t like them. KansaiBeerLvrs (5375) - Kyoto, JAPAN - SEP 17, 2017
Tap at Lingua. Clear amber with a thick head that gives a rich rye aroma. As the medium bodied balanced beer warms up it gives a bit of a floral hop quality. A good easy drink brew. Lowenbrau (4728) - Asturias, SPAIN - DEC 3, 2014
33cl bottle @Cimmeria, Oviedo. 03-12-2014.
In short: spicy bitter finishing beer.
Pours quite hazy amber with nice off white head. Moderate head retention, some lacing. Spicy, grassy, "wet" aromas.Medium body, average carbonation, some oily texture. Taste is malty, grassy, herbal, spicy, some hot notes, with a developping bittering leading to some dry finish. A modern concept brew that reminds me of tradiotional ales. Enjoyable.
