Bottle. Aroma is great, light cheesy funkiness, bit spicy, earthy too. Taste is good, tropical fruit but lots of spice, pepper, bitter, grapefruit, cream cheese and chive. Yum.

330ml bottle from Deguchiya in Naka-Meguro. Poured into a snifter. Hazy brown color with modest soapy head that leaves yeast grazing the surface of the beer throughout the glass. Nice caramel, toffee, cinnamon aroma. Overly sweet with a touch of sourness on the palate. Pepper is also present on the finish. Overall great malty, sweet IPA. In a market full of pungent, savory, ostentatious Rye IPAs, this came as a surprise, but after a couple sips I realized a pleasant one. The sweet qualities from the caramel and fruit are elegant and not overdone, and work well with the rye, giving it a pleasant, festive "spice loaf" character, at the risk of making the beer sound desserty, which it isn’t. Fans of IPAs might find this drinks closer to a pale ale in terms of hops, but I think a higher IBU would have overshadowed this beer’s strengths. This may have been a nightmare to brew but a dream to drink. Highly recommended. Bier brauen (246) - Bremerton, Washington, USA - MAR 21, 2009
At the Nakameguro Taproom. Pours cloudy with small bubbles. Thin creamy head. Gold, the color of pitch resin. Floral hop aroma. Flavor of sweet honey with ruby red grapefruit. DeanF (2469) - Alberta, CANADA - OCT 9, 2015
Found at an import shop in Edmonton. Pours with nice huge foamy head and a good foggy orange body which has plenty of carbonation. Nice yeast and hops aroma with malts to balance it out. Flavour is smooth hops with tart spice and sweetness. Medium finish. I really enjoyed this one, well balanced and a great departure from the usual Japanese macros. Sampled at 12.4 degrees celcius.

UPDATED: JAN 20, 2012 Wow the nose is a joy to behold. A floral bouquet of hoppy joy. The mouthful unfortunately is a little thin, which detracts from the flavour. The malts are solid here, as is the hops on top. If this were a little more full bodided they would truly be on to a world class beer here. Lets hope they tinker with this and improve it next year! 2012 version. Excellent, excellent IPA. Lots of citrus and a bit spicy. Could be drier, but that’s a minor quibble. UPDATED: JAN 13, 2012 On tap at Cheers. Light copper color with a thin head. Aroma: quite hoppy, with light malts. Light rye feel in the mouth. Good maltiness, caramel and fruity, but light. Great hops. sunevdj (4094) - Copenhagen OE, DENMARK - APR 7, 2013

Bottle. Fresh hoppy aroma with hints of toffee. Pours a dark and cloudy orange with an off white head tinged with brown spots. Flavour is mainly citrus hoppiness with notes of toffee and vanilla. Creamy texture and a mild bitter finish. Good and interesting IPA. Stew41 (2040) - Phuket, THAILAND - OCT 21, 2016
Very fruity and loads of caramel. Hardly a trace of modern hops save some mineral bitterness late. Almost tough to pick as an IPA. Bloody slurpable however.
