COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Baird Ganko Oyaji ("Stubborn Old Man") Barley Wine gains its depth and complexity from simple enough sources -- i.e. a grist bill featuring just English Marris Otter pale ale and caramel malts (as well as a hint of Japanese candy sugar), and a hop bill highlighting English Fuggles. The hedonistic pleasure plays out oxymoronically -- i.e. bitter and sweet, heavy and light, exhilarating and exhausting.

330ml bottle pours a pale amber color with a finger of off-white head that leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is raisin and cereal grains and citrus notes. Taste is a dark fruity and malty sweetness with a citrus hop bitterness and a dry toasted finish. Medium bodied with mild carbonation. Overall, a nice barley wine style ale that must be sampled.

GlassBrass440 (321) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - JUN 7, 2015
Pours a cloudy burnt orange with no head. Aromas are spicy and herbaceous with hints of dried fruits like raisins, prunes, and currants. Flavours are well melded and at once sweet and savoury. Candy sugar, dried fruits, porridge grains, cardamom, alcohol, white pepper, and honey all make an appearance but are too polite to speak too loudly or out of turn. A short finish with a mild lingering astringency is all that remains to remind you of your last sip.

BuckeyeBoy (7509) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JUN 6, 2015
On tap pours out a hazy golden topped with a sand head. Nose is sweet toffee caramel pit fruit and some rich malts. Taste is more of the sweetness caramel toffee spice and some of the fruit.
