Tap at Aldgate. Pours hazy orange, almost looking like NE style, although this one is not a new recipe at all. Aroma is thick, malty and with a decent herbal-bitter hop kick. Taste is definitely Baird’s, I wonder if its really the yeast that is giving this house character to all of Baird’s beers. Nice thick body, bit sticky but not sweet, lots of hops there, leaving some long-lingering bitterness behind. Maybe not the most amazing but still solid decent IPA. Could session this.

Very cloudy. Light amber. Grapefruit rind hops, sweet bit nondescript malts.

Tap at the Aldgate. Nice pine and grapefruit notes on the nose. Average carbonation with an average body. Good bitterness with some pepper on the palate. Finish is pithy bitterness that lingers for a while. Straight-forward, solid IPA.

From notes from my July 2010 visit to Tokyo. Draft in the Aldgate, Shibuya. Fairly big ass-kicking hop IPA. Pours orange amber, hazy with nice white head. Nose is very citrous with grapefruit predominant. Taste is strong bitter citrous grapefruit, orange, pine and a sharp bitter finish. Good malty backbone too.

Said to be 60-70 IBUS and 6.2% ABV. Another good solid IPA from Baird. Big wafts of grapefruit on the nose. Good solid bitterness initially with grapefruit and some stone fruits with a good length finish. Good body for the beer. Won’t knock your socks of,f but like most Baird, is a good, almost workman like, well put together tipple.
