3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: SEP 24, 2015 360ml bottle (BierKompass.de)
6 Pleasant portery aroma, a bit of coffee, but a bit of pulses too.
4 Very dark red, large tight tan head, fairly persistent.
7 Solid roasty taste, pleasant sharp burnt edges, some dry barky hoppiness too, in particular in the retronasals ig you linger over swallowing. Some painty pencil sharpenings too.
4 Full and smooth in the palate, pleasant carbonation crispens it up nicely. Finish has most of the best parts of the taste, and few of the weaker parts. The dryness is palpable, this is very well attenuated.
14 Yet another corker from Baird - this is such an easy beer to drink despite the aspects they are quite happy to describe as "acrid", but for a lover of bitterness, and dryness, I think don’t deserve quite that term. No idea where they hid the 6%. In my belly, that’s where - all gone...

Honey and dark grains aroma. Very dry hoppy bitterness, and nice malts in the mough. Fizzier palate - keggier. Still very good, but with its strengths in different places.
Bottle at Owls Brew, Singapore. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a frothy white head. The aroma is caramel malt, light chocolate, coffee, nutty roast, light hop. The flavour is moderate sweet light liqourice bitter with a smooth, dry roasty, liqourice charcoal hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. explosivedog (1614) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - NOV 10, 2017

Bottle from Hometown Spirits in Flowery Branch, GA. Aroma is roasted malts, some earthy twigs, chicory. Taste is really straightforward roasted malts with some earthiness. Not tangy enough and more of a brown ale to me, but very drinkable. colui72 (1099) - HONG KONG - FEB 22, 2017
Dark brown with a medium white head, some lacing. Aroma is minimal, some dark malts, very mild. Taste is much more intense than the mild nose, with lots of roasted malts, notes of coffee and chocolate, dark fruits, an unpleasant candi sugar after taste, and something metallic. Light bodied, pleasant carbonation, not too bad, in line with other Baird beers. zvikar (6444) - Ramat Gan, ISRAEL - JAN 28, 2017
