on tap at the nakameguro taproom, an old rating, listed as "Citrus IPA with mikans" to celebrate the 8 year anniversary of the taproom. anyways, pale amber, clear, with a thin but lingering off-white head; heady aroma of citrus zest, somewhat musty, pollen; plenty of bitterness, some selfraising flour, somewhat tart. my notes ask a simple question - ’what’s a mikan?’ Capa (3448) - Kitsap, Washington, USA - JUL 19, 2009
Golden copper with a white head. Very citrusy aroma with plenty of hops. The mikan works very well with the hops used and it can be hard to distinguish where one starts and the other stops. Bitter with the citrus coming through but not a hop bomb- which is nice. Mikan is a grapefruit like fruit so there is some of that coming through, but again, they work so well together they are hard to separate. Very well balanced. Lightly dry finish keeps you sipping this one. One of Baird’s better seasonals.
