Cloudy dark brown orange color. It looks more like a meal than a drink. A slightly tart mikan nose erupts, along with citrus fruits, cotton candy and some sweet maltiness. Sweet malty mouth is well balanced with ample hops and a refreshing tartness. Mikan, candy apples and cotton candy all come through. Sweet malty finish. Yum. This is one of the better fruit beers I have had.
This kicks ass over his other Mikan ale (why a brewery brews two mikan ales, I don’t know).

Hazy orange pour, white head. Citrus, orange juice, sweet malt, bread, light spice, and tropical fruit. Tastes pretty good, the more I drink the more orange I notice. BückDich (5464) - McCall, Idaho, USA - NOV 7, 2009
Bottle: Pours a cloudy orange color with a nice thick pure white head. The nose is bright and fruity with tons of orange and crispy hop notes. The fruitiness in the nose moves its way seamlessly into the flavor. A bit more sweeter than it is bitter, a hopped up version (ala, the IPA) would be a lot better. Almost like a pummelo, the fruit adds a lot to this that the hops normally would. Nice combination. markwise (5441) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - APR 7, 2009
Thanks sebletitje for the share. Pours hazy orange gold with a white head. Nose is orange, malt, spice, citrus fruit, sugary light fruit, and star fruit. Flavor is a lot of sweetness and light fruit that is beginning to make me think that there is a basic Japanese fruit for beers like these. Light bodied and very sessionable, enjoyable beer. mar (5406) - Dallas, Texas, USA - FEB 6, 2009
bottle thanks to bu11zeye. cloudy gold pour with a thin white head. slight bitter nose with a tangerinish background. good on the palate with a flavor just like it smells.

Sampled on 12/18/2009. This fruit beer pours a medium orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity, citrusy and sweet. A medium bodied fruit beer. The malts are fruity and citrusy, sweet and tart. The hops are citrusy. Lively carbonation. Nice balance. Slightly citrusy and tart. Delicate flavors. A very nice touch of blending a fairly non-traditional brewing fruit into a beer. Subtle. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly tart and bitter. Bottle at abraxas. Hazy orange-sickle. Stale pale malts maybe the bottle is a bit old. The delicate orange is late to the party but fun to have. Light on the tongue. Fresh and delightfully dry. I wish I had a fresh one but even old it's good.

As Shizuoka Natsumikan. Hazy orange color with a medium head. A very plantish and leafy aroma, like walking into a greenhouse. Very light flavors of fruit and flowers. A touch of bitterness on the finish. Fairly non-descript. I am not familiar with the fruit used in this beer, but it may be too delicate to stand up to a beer, as it really does not seem to have added much. KansaiBeerLvrs (5084) - Kyoto, JAPAN - AUG 2, 2013
I had this as Baird’s Shizuoka Summer Mikan Ale. 235ml for 700 yen at Tadg’s. Citrus hoppy aroma with a subtle touch of Mikan. Light smooth mouthfeel. Wow, you really get the mikan flavor, then a crisp bitter hop bite. A nice summer brew! travita (4985) - Dallas, Texas, USA - FEB 10, 2009
Bottle thanks to Bu11zeye. The look is cloudy, bright orange color, with an ok off white head. The smell is fruity, hops, flowers, and tropical fruit. The taste is hops, low bitterness, flowers, some malts, and fruits.
