Dark brown, big head. Roasty porterish aroma. Quite toasty, light roast, moderate bitterness, like a hoppy, toasty porter. KyotoLefty (10523) - Kyoto, JAPAN - DEC 1, 2008
On tap at Nakameguro.
Black with a fine tan head. Strong hop aroma, with burnt malt and chocolate. Flavor of burning hops, coffee, chocolate, dark malt, caramel and a bit of dark fruit. Dry, hoppy finish; burning, bitter and burnt. Dry and long-lasting. Very interesting, hoppy and burnt beer. Dry and bitter with almost enough malt to balance. Could be a bit sweeter. A bit too bitter, but still nice. motelpogo (7704) - Plzen, CZECH REPUBLIC - JAN 8, 2009
on tap at the nakameguro taproom. deep black with some purple around the edges of the glass and a lasting light brown head. the dryhopping showed through in the aroma with the amarillo really standing out, also some hints of pine and moss. burnt raisin toast flavour with hints of red berry, complex flavour with hints of caramelised stonefruits, similar to an imperial stout TimE (5997) - Tokyo, JAPAN - JUL 3, 2008
Very similar to the Divine Vamp III in that it is an IBA with massive citrusy hops and a roasted malty backbone. Perhaps this has more mocha and molasses flavors stemming from the black sugar they put in. Aggressively bitter finsih.

On tap at Bungalow. A dark reddish brown pour with a thick foamy light beige head. A good dose of chocolate malts & resinous hops in the nose. Medium bodied with a good chocolatey creamy flavor and a lightly bitting bitter hop finish. Good.

UPDATED: JUN 14, 2015 Tap at Good Beer Faucets. Dark brown, very dark red colour with golden head. Aroma is cream, chocolate, roast malt, bit of smokiness, pine and citrus hops. Taste has some dark fruits, lots of malt, ovaltine-like almost. Touch of spice in there too giving it a bit of a prickle. At the same time, some chocolatey sweetness. Maybe something herbal in there too. Finish is toasty with subtle bitterness. Very smooth and medium bodied. Very nice.
Rerate Jun 15. Very different, oaty and treacle, smoke and caramel. Interesting. Lots of malt and light hoppiness at the end. Quite different.

Bottle, 12C. Black with a large beige head. Smells very fruity with stone and citrus fruits, some chocolate, pine and slight burnt notes. Oily mouthfeel. Not all that sweet. Astringent roasted and coffee notes straight away, but peaches and a little citrus are there too. A bit of dark toffee and pine are underneath. Bitterness is there but not as pronounced as I’d guess - there’s nearly as much astringency at the end as bitterness. Tasty and well-balanced. gam (4000) - brisbane, AUSTRALIA - AUG 7, 2011

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Nice dark brown pour with a very fluffy, off white head. Roasted malts and a little ash on the nose followed by a touch of pine and chocolate. Cocoa powder and roasted malts mingle throughout. Finish with pine and more of the roasted bitter notes. Quite flavoursome and very easy drinking. Good beer
