Every Japanese beer I’ve had in the last couple of years have been such exiting and often different treats. This lovely stout is a gorgeous chocolate and roasty bitter treat. I also got vanilla and quite a bit of salt from this. I want to go on a beer safari in Japan because of beers like this. AgentAle (1853) - Fort Mcmurray, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 18, 2014
Aroma is roasty malts, fig, caramel and some slight smokiness. Taste is rich malts, caramel and some toastiness. Body is dark with a cream head that retains somewhat poorly. a_sully (457) - - MAY 18, 2014

Shaker glass. Pitch black with medium, light mocca, medium lasting, dense head. Medium lacing. Roastiness, mainly chocolate, than caramel and coffee. Some graint notes, but really low. None hop aroma. Noticable medium roasted malts - mainly chocolate. Ashy, roasty, smokey, little salty. Medium hop bitterness. No hop flavor. Light acidic sourness. In general bittersweet Long lasting ligh bitter aftertaste. Medium-dry beer. Medium body. Creamy and smooth. Medium carbonation. No alcohol warmth. Ligh bitter and low chocolate finish. Solid nice session stout with good saltiness and dryness. JorgeLee (2280) - Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 17, 2014
Bottle in Omen, Kyoto. Served in a wooden cup so judging appearance is tricky but the bottle was nice, the foam was off-white and the liquid suitably dark. Roasty and dry, lots of roasted barley and malt flavours, ash and coffee, not too much hop in there. Very drinkable, and goes surprisingly well with sabazushi!

Pours a dark brown with a light brown head. Aroma is malt, roastiness, caramel, coffee and chocolate. Taste is light to medium sweet leading to kind of a thin finish. Not bad. kidmartinek (5007) - austin, Texas, USA - FEB 25, 2014
Pours a watery brown with a thin head. Smells nice with dark roasted malts and chocolate but that’s where the fun stops. The taste is watery, deeply toasted malt seeming burnt at times. Looks ok, smells good, tastes worse. Actually its not that bad. Or good. Or bad.

Looks nice, black with some red highlights and great foam. Aroma of chocolate, tastes very smooth and dry with a little honey flavour. Soft carbonation makes it pleasant to drink. kopyr (11) - Oborniki Śl./Wrocław, POLAND - FEB 11, 2014
Strong chocolaty aroma. Perfect appearance - opaque black with ruby highlights with dense tan head, with great lacing. Good distinct bitterness, with a lot of chocolate. Very long lasting aftertaste. Great beer for such a simple style. GoufCustom (2258) - HONG KONG - JAN 16, 2014
360 ml bottle bought at YATA in Grand Century Place, Mong Kok.
Clear Cola blackish brown colour with dark brown yeast sediments; Half finger head with beige foam which lasts for 30 seconds; Very good sticky lacing with near zero carbonation; Quite fragrant sweet aroma of roast malt, with coffee, cream, chocolate, vanilla, light ash, sugar and light grass; Light sweet taste of roasted dark malt, with very potent ash and smokiness, roasted nuts, burnt toffee, burnt toast, faint dark chocolate, light soy sauce, liquorices, bitter lime and grass; Light body, thin and slightly slick palate; Mouth feel is very roasty and smoky as if downing from an ashtray. Very good maltiness. Salty, good burnt toast and almost no sweetness, I like it! Hoppiness is light grass nose, good lime and grassy hop taste. Liquorices is light but right on for some astringent and growing low bitter finish; Pretty dry after taste, very roasty and a bit salty to mouth.
Comments: This one is somewhat low in chocolaty and coffee characters, but it has a good lean body, very roasty and smoky, dryness and saltiness make for a dynamic and tasty session. Lovely!
