330ml Bottle from Sinanoya Food & Liquor, Shinjuku, Tokyo (¥507):RyanCheng (3) - - OCT 12, 2017 does not count
Another fine Barid offering that opened with a lot of sweet malts, caramel & toffee flavours as well as some darker fruits that helped keep things balanced & mask at least some of the alcohol content of the beer, although there was still a little showing in the early going. It's quite a strong beer with a lot of flavour & complexity but it remained easy to drink & is definitely one of the better Scotch ale's I've tried, although it's not a style of beer I've drank many of recently but this is definitely one that I'll keep my eyes peeled for in future given how much I enjoyed this bottle.
Dark brown with minimal head
Well balanced, medium to full bodied, medium lasting.
Malty, malty, some herbal, some vanilla and cream, the barrel comes last.

Sweet jammy fruity initially, later a rich sweet maltiness. Hint of sourness in the taste briefly. Nice rich roasty bready malts. Fullish sweetish palate, a bit limp - this feels keg, but OK carbonation stops it from being dead. A bit boring, but drinkable. Covers the alcohol, so a bonus point for that.
Rerate (Pudel again)
Murky brown, with ring head. Mostly caramelly aroma that’s slightly tarry, in a dirty way. Perhaps a hint of boozy vapours or phenolic aspects, which carry over into the taste. Sweetish, fizzy palate. A few mushrooms, and this has a caramel and mushroom finish, with sweet treacle in the late finish. A hint of sourness again. Served too cold.
Tap. Dark amber color. Medium size, beige head, stays. Alcohol, sweet, herbal, caramel and Belgian yeast in aroma. Caramel, alcohol, yeasty, nutty in taste. Walnuts, alcohol and Belgian yeast in aftertaste. Medium carbonation. Harsh to drink. Boozy and yeasty brew. k0mpsa (3235) - Tuusula, FINLAND - APR 1, 2017
Tap at sori taproom, helsinki. Deep brown color, white head. Aroma has caramel malts, some licorice notes, some coffee and hint of oak. Nice oaky and malty taste, some hops, hint of cognac. Alusmamuts (2222) - LATVIA - MAR 18, 2017
Dark brown with minimal white head. Slight sweet-sour aroma with some roasted and fruity notes. Medium sweetsourness followed by medium strong roasted bitter notes. Slight bitter aftertaste. mjs (7814) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAR 13, 2017
(Keg at Sori Taproom, 20170313) The beer dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, caramel and berries. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, grass, caramel, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, toasty and bitter. A decent malty brew with bit disturbing side notes.
