The Xyauyù Ultimate tastingIbrew2or3 (8666) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - JUN 26, 2010
Hazy color, dark amber, with red hue; flat. Caramel aroma, with some oxidisation, like a dubious quality Madeira and Chinese rice wine, some alcohol and very light phenol; later there is a very light fruity note (prunes); not extremely inviting overall. Sweet malt flavor, very sugary and sticky; therefore the alcohol constitutes a pleasant note. The final is just sweet, without much else to say. Good for a sweet tooth like mine, but really not much complexity in this one.
Big, huge, massive thanks to SHIG for trucking this beauty across the pond for us Tampa geeks to lush over. I owe you one Shawn! Pours still clear copper without the slightest sign of a head. The aroma pushes up sweet dark fruitiness like figs, prunes and plums as well as caramel and some mild booziness. The taste is smooth as silk and sweet like nectar and coming across as a rich sweet dark fruit juice reduction of plums, pears and figs mixed with iced cider and a modest level of creamy caramel candy. This one is yummy sweet nectar goodness. SHIG (4962) - Wasilla, Alaska, USA - JUN 12, 2010
Bottle: Poured a caramel brown with no head. The aroma is boozy and sweet caramel. The taste is sweet caramel malt, dark fruit, and boozy tongue all of which actually hides the 13% alcohol. #100 Italian beer rate! sebletitje (10096) - Enghien, BELGIUM - JUN 6, 2010
Cheers to Shig for the share.
pours amber, no head.
aroma and flavors, lots of dark fruit goodness here, sweet candi caramelized sugars, hints of floral hops hinting toward a blossom louthfeel. abv is subdued even at 13% this beer is going down smoothly. The caramel sugar reminds me of baked apples leaving a nice sirupy finish. markwise (5441) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - JUN 6, 2010
Thanks to SHIG for the share. Pours amber red like the other Xyauyu bottles, but had a bit more head. Nose is booze with spice, pepper, caramel, lots of malt, and some vinous fruit and character. Palate is very sweet and mouthfeel is almost syrupy, but this beer has so much depth and flavor to it. Very good.

Very slightly hazy deep amber, no head just a few bubbles.
The aroma is vinous and fruity with notes of wood, prunes and malts. A faint oxidized character and hidden alcohol. Nice.
The flavor is seriously sweet, and the sweetness is accentuated by the completely flat mouthfeel. The body is not overly full, but decent and the texture is very sticky. Lots of sweet fruits, brown sugar, powdered chocolate and hints of spices. The finish has a slight alcohol twang to it, chewy malts and vinous cherry notes.
A good beer, but not fantastic. Very heavy and too much emphasis on the sweetness. andersand (529) - Malmö, SWEDEN - MAR 4, 2010
Light brownish amber with no head, just some legs. Aroma caramell and brown sugar, sherry, raisins, dried fruit and some acetone. Flavor is the same, sticky sweet and suprisingly muted. Unlike the other versions of the "Xyauyù" this even less aged one doesn’t quite blow any minds, the flavor is simply too muted and you have to wash the beer around in your mouth like a maniac trying to get the flavors out. Still, the muted flavors it holds is rather nice, sweet with a nice warming ending. Flat slightly stiicky body as expected. daniele (9228) - ITALY - AUG 2, 2009

Bottle at Mondial 2009. Amber with no head. Aroma is really sweet and syrupy. Hints of cherries, nuts and prunes. Quite complex. Taste is really syrupy and nutty. It has a faint alcohol feeling at first but it grew stronger at the end. Carbonation was really faint. This is one very special beer. It really felt like a port wine. Really rich and complex. Bottle at Mondial 2009.Amber with a thin white head. Average retention and above average lacing. Aroma is wood, cognac, alcohol, maple syrup, raisins and figs. Flavor is maple syrup, wood, cognac, hops, alcohol, dark fruits and hops. Liquorous mouthfeel. Awesome!
