Was expecting a stout, but this is not as dark but very full bodied and flavorful. 750 ml bottle purchased from Open Baladin in Rome and aged 6+ months. Smooth and easy to drink for a 9.5% beer. Nicely aged, sweet, cognac flavor on the finish. Great beer, would definitely buy again if available.

Bottle at Gaasa, june 11th 2013. Dark brown body, like cola with water, no head at all. Very little carbonation. Aroma of sherry, roasted malt, red berries and dusty hops. Taste is vinous with caramel, raisins, roasted malt and raspberries. A very special blend that grows a lot, first impression was not the best, however the beer turns out to be really delicious and complex.

Dark brown color with ruby shades; medium sized compact head. Mild aroma of caramel, raspberries, and a touch of vanilla; delicate and intriguing. Full bodied; the mouthfeel is smooth, with high carbonation; malt and caramel flavor, with moderate sweetness in the front, but getting leaner in the final; also the mild roasted malt note are more evident in the end; the raspberry presence is light, and provides some tannins; correct bitterness. In the final there is a light biscuity note, a bit dusty.
Original blend, very pleasant and balanced.

On tap at Open Baladin Roma. Different, it’s a nice experiment. Aromas of dark fruit, caramel, butter, citrus, and cherries. Taste is sweet, with light sour notes, and average length. Palate is creamy, and full bodied. Very dark brown, head doesn’t last.

Tap at Open Baladin, Roma - 04/10/12. Mid black with a big frothy mocha head - not your typical barley wine appearance! Nose has tones of wine, grapes, light roast malts, fruits and raspberry. Taste is milk chocolate, raspberry, fruit with undertones of maltesers. Fullish bodied with soft carbonation and a smooth finish. The alcohol is well hidden. Decent drop but surely not a barley wine? Not sure how best to describe this mind!

13/09/2012 Open Baladin Roma (tap). Stucchevole fin quasi dai primi sorsi. Corpo medio, carbonazione corretta. Deludente.
