COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The first 100% Italian beer made with Italian ingredients. An intentionally simple beer: Italian water, barley malt, hops, yeasts and two Italian spices (bergamot and coriander) which combine to create harmony and originality. A beer which suggests more or less daring combinations, but more importantly marks a turning point in the Italian production of craft beer. Nazionale, is excellent as an aperitif and goes well with any dish. 13.6° EBC 10

UPDATED: FEB 16, 2018 Licht oranje kleur, troebelig.

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2018 Very enjoyable, delicately balanced beer. A bit pricy though. There are equally good, similar belgian beers out there.

Thuis uit een flesje. Licht troebel, licht geelgouden kleur, veel wit schuim. Aardig, maar toch een wat vlakke smaak.

Bottle at Am pizza, milano. Clear gold, ushing white head. Spicy, heavy pitted fruit, slightly apicy aroma. Bitter, esteric, then sweet. Full body, fizzy, long and fruity finish. Not bad.

While the craft ale boom has been great for beer in terms of the number of styles Im always a little bit saddned by its uprooting of tradtion or locality. With many beers being made out of almost completely exported ingredients. nazionAle tries to change this. With ties with slowfood (who is a campaign to keep or develop traditional methods and ingredients in an era of homogenization) they claim to have made the first 100% italian craft ale. I respect that. Obviously restricted to milder hops they added bergamot and coriander. The latter is particularly noticable. It gives it a flowery white beer complexity. The beer hides its abv well but has mostly got a dry astringent, lemon peel, taste. Its okay but nothing special.

Bottle (33cl). A hazy golden beer with a large dense white head that lasts. Pleasant nose is reminiscent of a La Choufe blonde with coriander leaves, orange peel, Belgian yeast, hay, lemon and a trace of honey. Taste is initially honeyish malts before a dry citrusy and earthy yeasty finish. Low bitterness. Medium bodied with a lively mouthfeel and oily texture. A fine Belgian style Ale from this Italian brewery.
