Water, malt, hops and yeast. Thats it! Why? It took a simple beer to express a simple project. And it took an innovative beer to express an innovative project. This is how OPEN BALADIN was created: a beer with a strong personality and at the same time delicately captivating. And this is how this beer the first open source beer in Italy has slowly captured the hearts (and especially the throats) of those who enjoy good, healthy and informed drinking. 27 EBC, 16.8

Bottle at the GJBF Osaka 2013. A golden amber color, very slight head. Much milder aroma, kind of like a golden ale with more malt to it. The taste was more on the fruity side with some woodsy qualities to it. I didnt get any kind of APA vibe from it but I liked it.

UPDATED: FEB 10, 2015 250ml bottle. cloudy orange pour, lace. Dry, grassy, nose, minerals, something close to an infection but here I think it is intended, dry peach and orange. Sweet stone fruits big up front, peach, orange, melon. then it dries out a bit, more citrus, more hops. Still very estery and like opening a can of peaches. Body is full and silky. This is a Belgian yeast beer if I ever had one. The style is completely wrong. A fun beer, not perfect, but likeable and very unique.

Bottled. 6/3/7/3/14= 3.3 Funky, estery nose, nice citrus hops. flavor is estery, rich malt, orange, booze. The yeast character is a bit strange and overbearing.

Alla spina. Ipa ambrata. Schiuma abbondante e cremosa.Buon sapore di malto e buon aroma di luppoli. Finale amaro ma non eccessivo. Ottima! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Balladin Rome. Golden body with puffy soapy head. Nose is hops, butter, cheese, spices. Very inviting. Taste is really nice mix of hops, pine, butter, spices and warms in the dry finish. Well done.

On draft in teku glass. Appearance is unbelievable! Foam is so soft and creamy and settles just like a Guinness. Taste is quite malty but one your plate gets used toot it.s fine. Very good beer but I would say not bitter enough to be classed as an ipa.

Hazy amber color. Malt caramel aroma, yeast and a little earthy and grassy. Light sweet with medium bodied.

Spina @ beerfood Ambrata chiara con schiuma persistente. Strana APA, fruttata ma anche speziata... Buona! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iFox

25cl bottle. No label, just embossings. Pours an orange amber with a large white head. Aroma is sweet with fruitiness, dried fruit, spiciness, light yeast and light sour. Slight mango, light ethanol. At this point my suspicions are raised. Taste is semisweet with caramel, fermented fruit, spiciness. Generally tastes more like an amber Belgian ale, not an IPA. Palate is full and soft, smooth. Easy to drink, but definitely not an IPA. At least not this bottle.

Bottle bought from Stirchley Wines ages ago. Pours chock full of bits. Smell is strongly bready, sweet and orangely. Nope, this is caramel, rainwater, sweet German Bock-style flavour and woman. I like woman, but not in glass in liquid form. You know what I mean. Yep. I mean err no.
