50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden deep amber with a small rim of a white head. Aroma is smoked and bacon. Mild alcohol note too. Sweet caramelish and distinct bacon smoked flavoured. Smooth. Sweet and lingering into the far finish. Nice one.

Bottled. A dark amber beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has notes of smoke, malt, caramel, and wood. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of caramel, and then the powerful notes of smoke sets in combined with notes of caramel and malt, leading to a dry smokey finish. Huge thanks pinball for sharing.

Bottle at Papsø. Clear orange red coloured with a small off-white head. Fruity aroma of caramel, dried fruits, hops and smoke. Sweet and fruity flavour of caramel and dried fruits with notes of sherry and smoke. Sweet and waring alcoholic finish.

Bottled. Amber colour, small white head. Aroma is smoke, some bacon, alcohol, fruits and mild sugary sweetness as well. Flavour is very nicely caramel, smoked malts, some slight roasted malts as well as some alcohol. Quite lovely balance.

Sample from bottle. Clear amber color, flat. Aroma of vanilla, maple syrup, burnt caramel on toast. Taste is burnt maple syrup and brandy. Very tasty, but has no beer characteristics. Works as a digestivo.

Bottle at home ... from RBESG 10 Trip ... copper ... light smokey roast toffee ... hint of fish nose ... sweet toffee ... juicy malts ... again a light smokeyness ... nice but i prefer the copper to gold... and by a long shot

Very hazy amber beer, no head. Zero carbonation. Smooth semi dry palate. Sweet malt with traces of peach and orange but it’s mostly banana cream. A little caramel and aniseed. Then mild sherry and gentle smoke. An amazing beer and Baladin have this small corner of beer styles sewn up!

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of Pinball. Pours a clear reddish amber with an off-white Intensely fat bacon aroma. Solid body, hardly any carbonation. Very sweet, caramel and Sherry accents. Again fat bacon smoke. Well, to be honest I’m not quite sure how well fat Bamberg smoke goes with a sweet and caramellish Barley Wine. But an interesting experiment indeed. 280710

Dark red and amber color, oily, flat, no head. Aroma of sweet malt, caramel, smoke, with some Parmigiano Reggiano and alcohol, very light soy sauce. Full bodied; the ambrosia flows inside the mouth with sugary velvet; the rich malt flavor is followed by dark caramel, and deep smoke; notes of rum and vanilla; the bitterness level is correct; the final is nutty, with light roastiness and light Parmigiano Reggiano; the alcohol provides a pleasant warmth.

The Xyauyù Ultimate Tasting

Beautiful red and dark amber color, clear, shiny; flat. Delicate smoke aroma, it reminds me more a delicate smoked meat of the Schwarzwald than the Lapsang Suchong; it blends well with the malt, caramel and toffee aroma; due to the oxidisation, there is an impression of Madeira; also some chestnuts. It flows like a velvety ambrosia, sweet and delicate, yet powerful; rich sweetness, the malt melts into caramel; the smoke is very delicate, but clearly present; there are traces of chestnut honey and mature fruits; the 14% of alcohol is just a concept. Smooth. Sublime liquid for the gods.
