COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A beer brewed and matured to 13.5% ABV going to 14.5% in next productions.
Malts: Pilsner Durst, aromatic Dingemans, caramunich 140 Dingemans. Hops: Hallertau Hernsbrucker, Spalt Select and East Kent Golding.
Brewing process: the wort is hyperconcentrated then boiled for two hous and half. Primary fermentation for 25 in steel vessels. Then after a sterile filtration (to eliminate primary yeast strains) the beer is transfered in a steel vessel with transparent membrane and a "oxygen hat". Afeter several tasting from 6 to 24 months later (it depends on the oxidation velocity, very inconsistant!) the brewer decides when it’s time to bottle in 50cl. champagne shape bottles with good quality cork. The production is very limited. Three productions brewed during two years will be available from October 2006.

Teo Musso produces three versions Gold, Silver & Copper label which differ from each other in terms of degree of oxidation allowed and fruity perfumery aromas created. Teo’s objective is to allow Xyauyu to perfectly oxidize during the aging proces of 2.5 years {oxidation plays a critical role in aging port, sherry, as well as our vintage beers - too much oxidation will ruin the liquid - too little will not optimize the change in flavor / aroma during the aging process} .Here’s how Teo’s system works: Xyauyu is transfered to a steel vessel with transparent membrane and a "oxygen hat". After several tastings during the 2.5 year aging process Teo decides when it’s time to bottle (it all depends upon the oxidation velocity).
This golden beer reminds of an enjoyable Madera or an intriguing Chateau Chalon of the French Jura.

Bronze medal at the World Beer Cup 2014, category "Experimental beer"

Editor’s note: the label says also "Riserva Teo Musso" and the vintage (year).

Bottle. Dark chestnut with ruby sparklings, little bit hazy and completely flat. Strong and solid aromas of figs, raisins and vin santo with significant notes of wood, vanilla, dark sugar and a bit of caramel. Complex and changing while warming. Thick syrup, full body with oily and sticky mouthfeel. Sweet start balanced with slightly alcohol spicy and warming finish. Anyway well balanced and dangerously drinkable. F**king good but also expensive.

@ Baladin, Bologna. Beautiful dark, reddish chestnut colour, no head, no carbonation. Drinks like an old porto or dessert wine with muscat grapes, figs, raisins, hazelnut, vanilla, toffee. Nicely lingering aftertaste, sweet and syrupy. Huge body, very soft mouthfeel.

Bottle. 2012. Amber color. Very good and rich aroma: just great sweet sherry, raisins, dried fruits, toasted bread. Taste: sweet, raisins, sherry or madera, a little vanilla and bourbon, dessert wine, powerful and very tasty.

Rocznik 2013: Kolor do dosc ciemny bursztyn z mala iloscia piany. Aromat drewna, figi i miodu. Gesty slodki syrop bardzo intensywny w smaku z odrobina alkoholu. Jest karmel i ciemny cukier w polaczeniu z suszonymi rodzynkami. Wszystkie zmysly szaleja i ciezko uwierzyc jak to wszystko jest pyszne i dobrze ulozone.

June 11, 2014 - at Mondiale 2014 - expensive bottle sample. As "Golden label." Thick cloudy amber-brown pour, no head, but huge legs. Aroma is port - oak, sweet roast malt, alcohol, nutmeat, stewed prunes, fig, roast chestnut - lovely stuff. Taste follows, but mesmerizing - one of the best things I have ever tasted - just full-on nutty port (I got a second pour); not weak! Thick, slick, syrupy - sweet nutty/chestnut tart finish - top, top beer.

Flat and amber, touch of haze. Really beautiful aroma, rich rich malt syrup, super sweet on the palate, but there is a touch of alcohol and no shortage of woodiness. The woodiness lends almost an austerity to this that is completely at odds with the sweetness but both characteristics are so nice that it works anyway.

Bottle sampled at PIB 2017, pours a murky dark amber chestnut brown with no head. Nose brings out lots of caramel, toffee and toasted bready notes. Flavour is extremely sweet, with tons of cloyingly sweet caramel, followed by toffee, brown sugar and a little wood. Exceedingly sweet, yet very complex. Definitely overhyped and overpriced, but it’s quite nice.

Bottle from a friend. Deep copper color, minimal white head. Sweet taste with dried fruits, toffee, resin, alcohol, raisins, grape and a bit of pine. Sweet finish with dried fruits, toffee, resin, pine, raisins, rum, wood and grape. Exquisite barley wine.
