Rating #2500. 2006 Vintage. Thanks to Suttree for picking this up for me. Since having the Bronze Label Xyauyu I have been wanting to try one again but couldn’t justify the price. Well, smoked tea justified it for me. This silently uncorks and pours a ruby hued brown body and doesn’t even stir up a bubble during the pour. The still liquid gives off an aroma prominent with smoked tea and pleasant oxidation. Slight alcohol burns the nostrils along with leather, tobacco, and heavy caramel and blackstrap molasses. The body is just slick and velvety smooth. Just like I remember the Bronze. The taste is more prominent with the sweetness, caramel, toffee, figs, prune fruitiness. The smoke adds just a touch in the finish to linger, the alcohol is completely covered. The oxidation adds a nice papery (in a good way) note. Perfect for this cold late fall evening by the fire. UPDATED: FEB 20, 2011 2/20/11: 500ml Bottle: Aroma of smoke, malt, honey, wood, slight smoked meat, slight smoked bacon, and a hint of alcohol. Poured deep amber/copper/brown in color with no head. Hazy. Not sparkling. Full of medium-sized particles throughout. Flavor is medium to heavily sweet. Tastes of malt, honey, smoke, light smoked meat, slight oak, and some vanilla. Medium to full body. Slick, viscous, lightly sticky, then dry texture. Zero carbonation. Medium sweet, honey, malt, slight oak, slight meat, finish is dry. 13.5%ABV is slightly present in the aroma, but very well hidden throughout. 8/4/9/5/18 = 4.4
11/10/10: Mes Rate at Fork and Barrel: Aroma of barley wine, malt, caramel, honey, and slight alcohol. Poured amber in color with a no head at all. Cloudy. Not sparkling. Full of medium to large-sized particles throughout. Flavor is heavily sweet. Tastes of honey, malt, port wine, slight alcohol, barley wine, and slight oak. Medium to full body. Slightly viscous, otherwise average texture. Flat carbonation. Malt, honey, barley wine, and hint of alcohol finish is port-like and delicious. Overall, and it just delicious. 13.5%ABV is almost completely hidden throughout. 8/4/10/5/18 = 4.5

UPDATED: MAR 9, 2011 Bottle @Piozzo. Great smoked beer. Dark amber penetrating appearance, very exciting. Flavour of smoked malt, some fruits, caramel, toffee and coffee. Some vinous notes. Heady taste, grrrreat! malt, sugar, caramel and dry fruits. Full and rich body, great complexity. Wow.

A: snifter. looks like a flat coke. very little carbonation if any. deep mahogany color, reddish hues. some sediment in there. no lacing.
S: huge grape aromas. tons of pinot hints in the nose, as well as a massive green grape and raisin aroma. huge alcohol burn.
T: Wow! nothing like it smells. huge sweet flavors from the malts. some sweet red grape flavors. very complex palate form the barrels. molasses, cherries, figs, light hints of coconut.
M: very sticky. medium to heavy mouthfeel. very intense, almost nectar-like.
D: for 13% this beer is ridiculously smooth. Well worth the try if you want to front some dough.

Bottle: Poured a mixed color of rusted nail and orange copper, head was light bubbles. Aroma was a mix of sweet dark fruit juices and smokey wood. The taste was more of the same with dark fruit up front and a smoke stack ask finish. I rather disliked this blend and found it not to work well together. Fløska. Unclear copper brown colour, good curtains. Smoky caramel alco aroma. Sticky mouthfeel. Very sweet flavour with smoke, wood, alcohol and dark fruits.
