A bit of a murky copper with not much of a head. Hints of caramel malt in the aroma. Taste is a bit too much like bitter coffee.

Ethereal (2421) - Los Angeles, California, USA - DEC 31, 2009
Cask at the "Meet the Brewer" evening at La Gothique, Wandsworth Common, 4th Dec 09. Hazy amber looks. Aroma of cola cubes and cough sweets. Rather malty. Has the Ballard ’house’ character - similar to Wassail. Toffee malt tastes are balanced by a pronounced bitterness. Right weight and packs a lengthy finish. A best bitter that challenges the palate rather than mollycoddles it.
