Rating #1556 - 20.03.2015 - Birthday Brew Tour #2 - On tap at Ballast Point - Clear amber pour with a creamy white foam. Aroma is chocolate, english biscuits, caramel, and Demerara sugar. Delicate sweetness, smooth creamy mouthfeel, low-medium carbonation, light bitterness. Balance is lovely.

4 oz pour on draft at ChurchKey. Golden amber with off-white head. Aromas of caramel, light rum. Tastes of butterscotch, caramel, light rum. Medium body with a dry finish.

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark brown with a creamy beige head. Aroma is very rum! Med body -more or less. Flavor is rum(love rum) with flavor hints of heat. There’s some lightly treacly malt, some hard to parse hop,and some astringent wood. But this is all about rum, rum, rum. Heart.

(Echantilloné au Bagby Fest): Une bonne base caramélisée enrobée d’une touche d’épices que je pourrais difficilement associer au rhum. Excellente buvabilité et surprenante cohérence des composantes.

Keg at BP Little Italy, 13/11/14. Reddish amber with a moderate off white covering. Nose is rich dark fruits, subtle barrel effect, light spice, earthy, toffee. Taste comprises caramel, dark fruit rinds, touch sweet, subtle rum trace, woody tang. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok offering, BA pretty subtle but needs to be ABV considered.

14 mar 2015, tap at ballast point. Light brown. Nose is rich, malty, raisins, acidic wood. Thin body and moderately fizzy. Sugary, caramel, oak, vanilla, cinnamon. Interesting. Can’t decide what I think about the rum barrel aging. It almost seems like it hasn’t integrated well with the beer and they are two independent elements. Still, rather nice.

On tap at the brewery it has a reddish brown color with a small head. Aroma has some rum and roasted raisins. Taste has a small amount of rum with some roasted plums and some tartness. Great finish.

"A unique twist on what already is a slightly fruity amber ale. Rum prevalent in the nose and finish, mixes well with the base beer...probably a shorter barrel time. Nice after dinner brew."
